I just freed a stray kitten from my woodpile and she's hiding in the bushes and we can't find her. It's cold and raining (of course). Animal control is all out of hav-a-hart traps (apparently it's kitten season), and Home Despot is closed for the night.

Kitty is really scared of people, so she's a wild stray. DH's friend at animal control told him if he still hears the kitten crying to get a trap tomorrow. Sigh.

It's a cute little thing, but I dont' know that we can adopt another kitten right now. My oldest cat still hasn't accepted Panzi, and she's been here 2 years!

can you put a bowl of warm milk out and maybe it can drink and put some food out, take care

DH has a pet carrier out there already, with nice towels and food, but it won't catch the kitten. I'm hoping it's big enough to be weaned - it looked that way.

Maybe it will go in there when it feels like the danger of the humans coming back has lessened. Do you have the carrier entrance kind of burried in the bushes?
Poor kitty!

Awww poor little one :(

I hope you can coax him into the carrier. I hate to see them out in the elements. I wish more people would neuter their pets. My old neighbor would trap the strays in our neighborhood and take them in to be fixed.

Poor kitty. Hope you catch it!

I have a stray that just showed up one day. It fights with my outside cat. Beats him up all the time. We have a shelter near by but it is not a no kill. So I don't want to take him there. But if I drop him off (in the next county) I don't think that's right (I think someone did that because he is very friendly with people. Decisions, decisions.

DH and DD caught the kitten while I was at a "PTA" dinner.

He's spending the night in a carrier in the basement bathroom until we get him cleared by a vet for contact with our 2 other housecats.

that's very kind of you.

What a sweet looking kitty! So kind of you to take him in. :-D

nativetexan 06-29-2010 01:58 PM

that is so sweet of you to do. I hate to think of kittens outside and scared.
my girlfriend in Houston has a town house with an atrium and she'd just brought a kitten home to be friends with her 2 yr old cat. worked like a charm they took to each other right away. but a month ago, the kitten was in her atrium and playing with a bat. the animal control came and got the bat an found it was rabid. now she must wait 45 days to see if the kitten shows signs of rabies. they both got their shots after this happened.
so it's difficult to keep even house cats completely safe.
