She(wendy) was supposed to come over today, to meet and i was going to hand off a bunch of "crumb" blocks, for the kitties she fosters..anyways, she messed up her knee..:(
I dusted last night too!
i told her not to worry, The dust will be waiting for her next time..Kim

tlrnhi 01-18-2010 08:08 AM

I sure hope she heals fast.
It's awful to make plans to meet up with someone and then an accident gets in the way.
Hope you 2 get together soon.

ljsunflower 01-18-2010 11:00 AM

I hate to hear that! Just rest up, lady, & let it heal.

watterstide 01-18-2010 11:13 AM

it was probably a trick..DH called her up and invited her over..just so i would dust the furbabies hair off the glass tv table! ;)
she just PM'd me..she is sore, very sore.

Janstar 01-18-2010 11:28 AM

Sorry to hear that! Stay off of it and rest!

amma 01-18-2010 01:07 PM

(((HUGS))) I hope that she gets to feeling better soon!!!
LMBO Sooo DH is in cahoots, huh??? :D:D:D

sunkistmi 01-18-2010 01:30 PM

OK everyone,
Just to set the rumors to rest, short version. Went to church, got out of car to get paper, DH yelled "be careful", fell (can I blame him?), replaced right knee swelled (a lot), let Kim know I couldn't come (drat) in early AM, spent rest of the night on ice (everywhere) tossing and turning, morning brought pain EVERYWHERE but no permanant damage, spent day down w/leg elevated on ice and heat on back surfing the board. Made plans to meet on Thursday, I hope. With my RA, it just seems like it takes forever for me to heal. Looks like my trip to pick up some kitties at the shelter is not going to happen tomorrow either, grrrrr. We have 7 cages empty at the store just waiting for new occupants looking for their forever homes. Thank you for all your warm thoughts. This is a wonderful place, knowing you have friends you have never met that care about you.
Wendy

ljsunflower 01-18-2010 01:55 PM

Hey Wendy! Take it easy! I know it's a pain in the patooty when we're sick or injured, isn't it?
Good to hear from you.

watterstide 01-18-2010 02:02 PM

Ok, do you want me to come get you, i'll drive to get the kitties? i have crutches,i think.( i am a faller too, groan)
let me know..i realize how important this is, to all of us, to find forever homes...i have a mini van..and i am free..

Rhonda 01-18-2010 02:05 PM

quick healing to you Wendy!! Hope you are back up and mobile and out of pain soon!

sunkistmi 01-18-2010 02:17 PM

Oh Kim,
I like you so much already! No, it's OK, I just rescheduled the pickup. I think if I keep the ice on I should be able to do it on Weds. Swelling is going down but didn't want to push it tomorrow. Thanks so much for your offer. One day is not going to make a difference and I've already called them. See you on Thursday?
Wendy

watterstide 01-18-2010 02:28 PM

and yes,see ya on thursday!

Elisabrat 01-18-2010 02:34 PM

I too have cruddy knees and as soon as anyone says BE CAREFUL they might as well bump me on over.. I over react and whomp down she goes. Massive reconstruct on left knee 2 yrs ago or so.. very very careful with them now. Things never heal as fast as we gently get older. KITTIES? RESCUE KITTIES? I rescue kitties too!!! I just got an email that I was so hoping not to get as its January. Pregnant stray about ready to burst can I help.. I was so hoping it would go til end of Feb at least before the flood starts again. So many kitties and so few hands to help them.

sunkistmi 01-18-2010 02:49 PM

Someone just asked me if I had any and I said "no, not usually until April". So sorry to hear about your call. I wish people would fix even just the 'boys' since then there would be no babies. Usually the boys are less expensive to fix also. I had 20 fosters last year, 4 were little one I got less than 3 days old. Lots of time w/bottles and no sleep. But I cry when I have to put them in the cages so they can be adopted. Guest room, foster central, has all my sewing room moved into it while restructuring it, so I'd better not get any calls. Usually at this time of year its not babies but a stray that needs "loving" before it can be adopted. Too cold for much 'kitty panky' here in MI. Best of luck.

Hope you get better fast, so nice of you to help with the homeless pet's.

Shemjo 01-18-2010 07:12 PM

Sun, get better soon. I fear falling more as I get older. I am around so many people with bum knees, I don't want to go that route. Also Bless you for fostering cats. It must be very hard to let them go to forever homes.

sunkistmi 01-18-2010 07:25 PM

It is hard (I always cry) but knowing they will be adopted is a good feeling. It really is hard when you have fostered kitties and it takes a long time for them to find their homes. There are two kitties still there that I had in April! They are a brother & sister and were a bad trap to begin with. They were also a little older so that made it harder to gentle them. They are so sweet but not 'kittens' anymore so it will take a special person to take them. I know that person/family is out there, they just have to walk thru the door of the Luv-A-Pet center. There is another little tortie that I had in October that is the half-sister of the foster failure (one I fostered but liked so much I adopted) from my May litter. Her sister was adopted and she was left. Why couldn't they have taken both of them????? They were both very shy too. I just have to keep praying; God loves them too. Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'm feeling quite a bit better tonight. Darn that ice!!!!!

Blue Bell 01-18-2010 08:05 PM

Wendy,
I just found out that you had a fall. Hope your knee gets better real quick. Please be careful when you go outdoors.
I saw my daughters new kitten today. She has long legs and is skinny. Just like my daughter. They say that pets tend to resemble their owners.

Thanks Blue Bell! Congrats on your new family member.

Hi all, well I'm up and about. Well not out and about but off the ocuch. Knee swelling is going down and back, well we won't think about that. It could have been LOTS worse. Should be 'fine' for road trip (short) to Watterstide's on Thursday. Thanks for all the good thoughts. This time of year is bad because of the freeze/thaw cycle. There is alot of ice out there that is not really visible, therein my 'downfall', LOL. Ouch! Have a great day everyone.
Wendy

watterstide 01-19-2010 12:10 PM

Glad your up a bit!

Wendy - I hope you were able to go on your visit today. How is the knee?

watterstide 01-21-2010 01:13 PM

oh yes she did! we had tea and delicious coffee cake she made! also show and tell! had a wonderful visit! it is so nice to be able meet people from the board!

sunkistmi 01-26-2010 10:29 PM

Last post on this subject. Had a wonderful visit with Kim and came home with a whole bag of cage size quilt tops to send home with the newly adopted kitties so they will have something with their smell on it in their new forever home. What a blessing! Since there are only 15 cages, it should be pretty easy to keep up the inventory. Now I just need to get batting for them all. I decided I wanted to use cotton since they will be washed alot and I don't want to do much heavy quilting, just a simple grid. I can't wait to get some of them in there! I'm going to put a small tag on the back saying "with lots of love" unless I can think of something else. Body feeling MUCH better, not limping anymore at all. Knee swelling is very, very slight. The RA seems to make any kind of healing take longer than expected. Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts and words. I felt very cared for. You are all very special. Happy quilting!
Wendy
