It swam right up to our door and said: "Take me. I'm yours!"

actually our Native American next door name (5 ft 1 if she is an inch) came to the door, with this 25 pound already gutted fish, in one of those big pull tie trash bags. It was a locally caught King Salmon. She'd gotten two and wanted us to have one of them. At $9 to $13 a pound fresh, that was a precious gift for sure. Hubby may smoke it. He just finished up fillet stuff on it. It stretched head to tail and filled half the counter on the left of the kitchen cabinet. WOW.

My folks used to go salmon fishing 40 years ago. We ate so much fish growing up I hardly eat it now. But there is nothing better than bar-b-qued fresh salmon. Enjoy how ever you fix it.

Wow, makes me nostolgic. When my hubby and I were living in Oregon (1972-1984) we went to Brookings to deep sea fish. We had our own 18 ft. boat and fished all summer for salmon and the last 2 weeks before the season closed we fished for bottom fish. We woul filet the bottom fish and freeze them in water so when we thawed them out to cook they were just like fresh caught. Most of the salmon I canned. The last season we fished I canned 78 pints of salmon. Sure wish I had some of that good fish now!! Congrats on having such a nice neighbor to share with you.

Very nice neighbor ..

Thanks for all the replies. We shared it with family visiting up here from Southern California. Figure it was about $90 worth of fish (Salmon) after fillets all done.
