T-Shirt Pillow

Has anyone made a pillow from a t-shirt? Did you use interfacing on the back of the shirt. I have made several t-shirt quilts and always used interfacing, but didn't know if I needed it in a small 14X14 pillow.

you probably wouldn't but it wouldn't hurt. would keep the fabric from stretching. a good thing, even on a pillow.

I made one for my DGS that his mom asked me to do. It was a favorite t shirt that was starting to show signs of wear and they wanted to preserve it. I used an iron on backing, I think it was called iron on fleece that I had on hand. I'm away from home right now so can't go look at it. It was heavier than I use on t shirt quilts. Anyway, it turned out so nice. They were really happy with it. I made an envelope style pillow with a soft corduroy for the back. There was a small logo on the shirt that I turned into a pocket on the back of the pillow.
So a long story to answer your question, I would say yes, use some type of interfacing:)

I have made them with and without the iron on pellon. I prefer to made pillow covers so they can be removed for laundering. I made one for my grandson from his favorite shirt which he had outgrown without the iron on so it would be nice and soft. I used the back of the shirt for the pillow backing and inserted a zipper so it would stay securely closed. He loved it and carried it with him to college for his dorm. When I made one with the iron on I secured the opening with velcro. Good luck which ever way you choose.
