I would like to embroider some tea or hand towels, does anyone know a good source to buy them... Can I buy fabric and make my own ( what would I buy)... don't want flour sack.... my friends are tired of quilting projects thought I would surprise them with something new. Thx. Quilter 1234

I purchase premade towels from our local Dollar stores. If you do hand embroidery, you can back the embroidery with tear-away stabilizer or warm and natural depending on the look you are going for.

The Dollar Tree has them too.

You can also find huck toweling and either fringe or hem the ends - it embroiders very nicely and lasts for years.

I've made tea towels from homespun fabric. Some I embroidered directly onto. Others I added a block of embroidered muslin.

I've always made mine from muslin and embroidered what I wanted on them.
