This teaches me NOT to clean house!! UGH!!

So I've been feeling poorly but today feel better so I decide to do a little house cleaning. I was using my little Shark lite vac and was vacuuming around my stack of thread boxes...well I had some spools sitting on top of the boxes that I had recently used but not put up yet. Yep, the vacuum caught a couple of the loose dangling threads and I ended up with about 15 spools jumping like jumping beans on the floor with lots of thread wrapped around the vacuum bar!!!!!! So now I sit and cut all the thread off the bar!!!!

This will teach me to just let the house cleaning go, right? LOL

KwiltyKahy 03-29-2013 11:43 AM

Yes, and I will take your warning to heart and go sew!!!

carrieg 03-29-2013 11:51 AM

OMG! I bet you let out a yelp when that happened!

michelleoc 03-29-2013 12:27 PM

Another reason not to clean. Thank you for adding to my list of excuses...back to sewing!

barny 03-29-2013 12:32 PM

That's what cleaning will get you into. Quilting time consumed by cutting threads.

Thank you for reminding me of the dangers. Vacuuming the studio was on the agenda for tonight.....but I think it might not be worthwhile after all. I'll fondle fabric instead!

thequilteddove 03-30-2013 04:46 AM

This work clean... What it mean? Not in my vocabulary *giggles*

tlpa 03-30-2013 06:22 AM

Yup, picture in my head of all those threads jumping around gave me a good chuckle as well. I'll put cleaning back on the bottom of the "todo" list!

mythreesuns 03-30-2013 06:38 AM

I do have to admit... the picture I got in my head...made me laugh..but then the thought made me think about a nasty date with Mr Ripper...

tessagin 03-30-2013 08:29 AM

OMGoodness! I have a shutoff button on my vacuum. But yes sometimes you just get caught up in the moment. It happened to me and that's why I can LOL! I used my rotary cutter to cut the threads where I could then an exacto knife. DH LOL'd til he got the bill for me to replace my thread on his card. Then I LOL'd! That'll learn 'em! LOL!

tessagin 03-30-2013 08:31 AM

To add to my post, I also bought couple more rotary blades.LOL

Tweety2911 03-30-2013 08:57 AM

Thanks for the laugh! Hate when good intentions turn out poorly. Hope you get some sewing done and get to laugh at this! Can't shake the image from my head:)

cr12cats 03-30-2013 12:37 PM

thanks for the reminder that housework is dangerous for ones health. having that happen and having to cut all that thread couldn't be good for the blood preasure < LOL. that is now my story and i'm sticking to it.

quiltinglady-1 03-30-2013 04:48 PM

Wow! My list keeps growing. Sorry it happened, but it sure gave me a good laugh.

captlynhall 03-30-2013 09:37 PM

Gosh, I can just picture that in my mind. Sorry, but it is too funny. At least it wasn't the dogs tail

Yooper32 03-31-2013 06:09 AM

I did this trick once but with yarn. After standing there looking horrified for far too long I finally hit the switch. Talk about a mess. My FIL was visiting at the time and several days later I was grumbling about how badly the vacuum worked and he piped up and said, " but it sure is good for winding yarn".

MargeD 03-31-2013 08:19 AM

YUP, cleaning can be dangerous to our state of mine. Chalk it up to Murphy's Law and change projects at least temporarily.

Mimmis57 03-31-2013 08:22 AM

In my house, I'm not allowed to use the vacumn. My feeling is it should pick up anything I lead it to- kleenex, pieces of string, little bits of fabric and perhaps a wayward cat {not really, I wouldn't hurt my boys!} When it balks at my requests I hate to admit it but I say some BAAAAAD words!

solstice3 03-31-2013 10:48 AM

poor baby... I feel your pain!!! I once had a home ec teacher (can you imagine) tell me if there is something cool to do... leave the housework for later.

Carol34446 03-31-2013 05:58 PM

Poor baby, so sorry for you. Cleaning is not at top of my list either.

I'll bet she let out more than a yelp, more like #@%^!

I almost always put sewing ahead of cleaning. I actually took time this week to clean as I was having family for Easter. Talk about dust bunnies. I moved furniture and vacuum under and behind, washed knick knacks, dusted off pictures, really deep cleaned. I feel great now that it is done and would like to keep it up but I know the sewing/quilting will win until the next time I need to dig deep into cleaning. I tried to tell myself if I cleaned for an hour I got to sew for an hour and it helped keep me on task.

richardswife 04-03-2013 05:06 PM

Oh what fun my cat would have had chasing all those spools around.:D. Better to quilt than to clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!
