For Pete's sake. We have 3 indoor cats, who knows how many outside cats, 2 dogs, 2 chickens, and a pet turkey. As if that list isn't long enough, my 18 yo daughter and her friends went camping at the local lake yesterday. She sends me a pic of tiny wild duck. She said it was stranded n left all alone. I told her to put it back and leave the area. Yeah, right, like anyone listens to mom.lol Well apparently she got ahold of Daddy (that's what she calls him when she wants something) who is at a fishing tournament and he says if there are no other ducks around...... Wait for it...... TAKE IT HOME! Ugh! So in the door the girls come. "MOOOOMMMM" I hear. Do you have a box ready?". So I got a box, a pie dish with some water, some newspapers and a few old dishcloths. Went to the feed bin got a little cracked corn and picked some clover for it. I guess we can add duck to the list now.

Sad part is, and I didn't say anything yet, he doesn't look too healthy. Probably why he was left behind by his/her family. I work 3rd shift, so I didn't say too much about that part because I am tired. When I was a kid, I was always bringing the injured home. Some made it, some didn't. I didn't get upset about her bringing him home because he wasn't gonna make out there. Maybe this little one will have enough fight in him, but he is carrying his head funny so I'm thinking we will have to add another spot to our gates to heaven for pets.

It is good to know your daughter has compassion.

Sometimes the "wild things" have more sense than we do.

The duck is still alive and in the spare room with doors closed so cats are out. Hubby is on his way home. This is their project. I will b sure to post updates.

If anyone has any stories like this, please share. Or if u want a duck.... Lol

Watch out, duck poop gets stinky fast, have lots of boxes on hand! Guess how I know.

Figure out a way to mail the duck to me. I have two ponds and a big tank on the ranch. He would love it here. I had two ducks and every morning they would both take off and fly around the property and come in for a landing in time for breakfast. Then at night, off they go again and s=circle the property. They always came home. The duckie is soooooooooo cute. I wish him good health.
