Thinking of you with sunshine and flowers! Please keep us updated on your progress... you go girl!! :D

Congratulations on picking yourself up and proving the doctor wrong. I am sure it will be a long road but stay positive and push yourself to sew.
|
I just plain have trouble using a foot controller. So - I used dome duct tape & heavy duty staples and taped my foot controller to my sewing table. Maybe you could get your husband to do that for you on the left side. I too have an inexpensive Brother machine that has a push button that eliminates the foot pedal. My daughter likes it - I don't use it much but it does come in handy when I need it. Prayers for you.
|
I do wish you the best of luck. With your determination, you will be just fine. Sounds like its going to take some time, but just hang in there, you can do it
|
God bless you, look how far you've come already !! It's called TRUE GRIT. Please keep us informed about your progress.

You are one very strong woman! Good for you. You will adapt and overcome whatever obstacle dares to come in your path. "Keep on Quilting!"

Hugs and more hugs to you! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you continue your recovery. Sounds like you are a strong woman and will defy all odds so I expect to see photos of some great quilts that you have made in the not too distant future. I do hope you can find relief for your continuous pain. That has to be the worst part!!!

Flavia Weedn It sounds like you are slowly picking up those pieces -keep going & grasp onto your inner strength. I admire your courage & determination. Hopefully at your visit tomorrow you will learn some techniques to make life easier for you. If you need to rest your body for awhile, just hop on this board & time will fly! Supper you say? I just had my morning coffee!LOL You certainly will be in my prayers. |
I hope you soon get some relief. My mother used to put her foot pedal up on the cabinet and sew with her elbow shen she had fallen and hurt her legs and back.
|
Good for you!!! Keep Staying Strong!
|
I will say...."never say never". And you sound like a determined, strong individual who wouldn't say it either!
You rock! You show them what you can do! Maureen |
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. But you are a very courageous and strong woman. I'm proud of you. You just keep going. God bless you

Gosh, that was a terrible blow, but with your determination, which comes through in every word you write, you will overcome this setback. God bless you in your efforts. You're in my prayers!

|
if you can't fly as high as you want, fly as high as you can. don't look down.
|
You are an inspiration...
|
I hope you start to feel less pain very soon. Remember doctors aren't perfect which is why they say the PRACTICE medicine. Good for you starting your own rehab. I am sure you will do well just give it a bit of time..
|
I admire your spirit and positivity. Too many people throw in the towel and give in to what they are told, especially by doctors - but doctors are not god-like beings, they are human too and make assumptions and get things wrong just like the rest of us. You keep on proving them wrong and all the best with your recovery.
|
Girlfriend.... I LOVE your attitude! You may have gotten shoved to the ground.... but by golly.... you AIN'T staying there. Some folks would have sit down and given up. Kudos to you!
Please keep us updated with your progress. {Hugs} and +prayers+ |
wishing you good Luck !!!! and the strength to go forward and beat this!!!
|
Sorry for your pain. It sounds like you aren't going to let this get you. I hope things work out.
|
Good to hear of your progression. A stop/start button on your machine might also be useful when you have fatigued with the pedal. That way you can keep sewing and not be forced to stop. All the best.
|
Sending Hugs and Prayers your way.

Hugs and prayers being sent your way. Keep us posted.

Your Yes I Will, By Gosh attitude is the best friend you have right now, and always. The rest of us are here to be your cheerleaders!! Many of us know about living with pain and struggling every day to do things that we used to do without a thought. And we are all here to support, encourage and listen if sometimes you just need to vent.
Sewing and quilting is such a great therapy... it keeps us going and I love it. You are a fighter and you are a winner! Keep up the great job. Hugs and smiles... |
Take this from a retired RN ...
Medicine can do only so much, but the biggest factor in recovery is the individual will. Attitude really counts. I have personally taken care of people who had the strong desire to overcome some of the worse conditions and did, while unfortunately some chose the other path. Mental attitude is important...and you will eventually do a lot more than was predicted. I do hope that one of your goals is to some day walk into that doctor's office to show him that you did accomplish what he once said would not happen. Sometimes specialists get overloaded with cases and just forget to impart some degree of hope while also mentioneding the potential for a negative outcome. I do think he would welcome your visit. In the meantime...take care, one day at a time...damage to nerves takes a very, very long time to heal, but keep up the good work, if you have been referred to a physical therapist keep at it...if not, ask your doctor about any benefits that might be gained from going to one. If nothing else, they will be able to teach the right things to do and the proper way of doing them while observing while exercised are done. Thoughts and prayers head your way. |
I know you are going to prove the doctor wrong. Like someone said, life throws us curves, but you got what it takes to straighten those curves out a whole lot.
Keeping you in our thoughts. |

He smashed into the front wheel on my driver's side, and plowed me up over a curb and into a block wall. My knees smashed into the dash board, my right ankle was jammed onto the pedal. My left thumb was jammed back into its joint and won't budge, my left wrist, arm and shoulder are all messed up. I had a concussion, whiplash, back and neck injuries, and nerve damage to my legs. I have been bedridden until recently. A neurologist that I saw last month had the nerve to tell me that I would never walk or drive again. "Well, I'll show you," I thought, and decided that I had to take matters into my own hands. With the help of a walker and a cane, I am getting better at walking every day. I found that it is next to impossible to push the foot pedal on my sewing machine but I had the determination to do it and I work at it a little at a time. To sew without the use of my left thumb is an enormous challenge, especially when my whole left arm is weak and painful and just about every other part of my body is in pain 24 hours a day. I made the Raggedy Ann and her clothes using my own pattern, some time ago. I hope to be able to get back to that level of sewing some day. Until then, struggling with another pair of potholders will keep me in the "quilting" realm. Although I have only been at the quilting board a short time, you have all been so kind with your encouragement and positive comments, not only to me but to each other. It brightens my day to be "around" such kind and thoughtful people. I have an appointment with an orthopedic doctor tomorrow. Hopefully he will give me a better prognosis. Wish me luck? |
With an attitude like you have
I am sure you wiil acheive your aims, you are an inspiration to us all. You go gal |
Stay positive - wishing you all the very best.
|
The doll is cute....you keep going, your doing real well
|
Robin -- hope the appointment went well.
As for doctors -- well, I have had the same experience but you are doing the most important thing -- taking responsibility for your healing! They don't know everything and many are challenged when it comes to dealing with the personality of the patient. Keep plugging along and don't let anyone else define you. You are you -- not a percentage nor a statistic!! Many prayers coming your way. Pat |
You go girl :!: Working through pain is not easy. You have shown that you have the determination to push on. You will be quilting again before you know it. ))))))HUGS((((((((

So sorry about you accident. I pray that you continue to get better. Love your doll. I just bought a pattern to make them. Hopefully I will get to it soon. I would appreciate any suggestions you have concerning making them.

Doctors don't always know, but God does and He will give you the strength and determination to do it. Keep up the good work. Show us some potholders or quilt squares you have done. All us here know you can do it and will help any way we can.
