I have one of the best husbands on earth. He is patient with me and he supports my love of quilting/sewing.

For instance, he is spending this weekend putting together my new Grace quilting frame for me.

He will spend hours driving with me to fabric shops to find "THE" fabric. He actually understands the need to use "THE" fabric. When we are on vacation he helps me find and go to fabric stores.

He goes to shows with me and helps me realize my dreams - like picking the perfect fabrics for a project.

He shows off my creations and he is proud of me.

Just had to publicly acknowledge my best friend and (although he would cringe) my best quilting buddy who doesn't sew.

It's so nice to hear things like that!

donnajean 09-24-2011 05:47 AM

He's a keeper!

sharon b 09-24-2011 05:47 AM

Isn't it wonderful  Congrats to having one so understanding

ontheriver 09-24-2011 05:49 AM

My BF is the same way, I'm so lucky. He even moves the furniture around every time I feel the need to rearrange my sewing room and he Is great picking out fabric, gives me very helpful suggestions as to design and color. They are both keepers.

sueisallaboutquilts 09-24-2011 05:55 AM

Most of us will ask if he has any brothers LOL
That's awesome!!! Mine is very supportive as well but
I wouldn't go as far as what yours does! :D:D

Marni 09-24-2011 05:56 AM

I too have one of those supportive hubbies-the love of my life! We go fabric shopping on our bike trips and his advice and encouragement are invaluable-he's definitely a keeper!

paulswalia 09-24-2011 06:04 AM

:D What a lovely breath of fresh air!!!
Wish more women would appreciate their hubbies instead of publicly humiliating their husbands when they don't do things the wife's way!
And then they have the audacity to make it of with: "I just needed to vent ..."

Digitizingqueen 09-24-2011 06:10 AM

It is wonderful to hear someone say all those nice things out loud - My BF has been extremely supportive of my move into long arming I think the best thanks we can give these guys is a quilt of their own!

sunni 09-24-2011 06:20 AM

I have to throw my hat into this ring as well. When looking at new machines, my husband was super quick with questions I never thought to ask. Taking me every place available before making a purchase.

He looks just as hard as I do when looking for fabrics. When looking for "the fabric" he will say "Yep it's here somewhere." or "No, this ain't da place." and usually would be right.

If I'm stuck in a pattern, he helps me figure out what needs to be done.

My husband is an avid fisherman. He told me that helping me with shopping has really helped him. He is always on the lookout for the perfect lure, line, pole, or reel. He said, "I've learned that just because you don't see it doesn't mean it ain't there." One time he was looking for a particular reel. The clerk said they were out of them. I said, "hmmmmmmmmmm, I can feel it. I know there is one here SOMEWHERE." After searching every nook and cranny in Bass Pro, my husband was ready to go. We were at the check out counters. I constantly look around at the counter ends while he is checking out. I couldn't believe it. I was about 4 check outs away and behind the clerk I FOUND the reel. I quickly asked the clerk if something was wrong with it and she said, "No, the customer just didn't want it." I said, "How fast can you run my credit card!" I met hubby at the exit door and he said, "Oh did you get yourself something?" When we got out to the car, my hubby still pretty disheartened, I said, "I got this to say Thank You for all your help getting my new machine." and I gave him the bag. He was expecting it to be some kind of gag gift. When he saw the reel he said, "Just cuz ya don't see don't mean it ain't there."

Xstitshmom 09-24-2011 06:26 AM

Oh, that is so sweet! My dear husband is the same way -- he doesn't usually come in the fabric store with me, but he always says, take as much time as you want, I'll just read my book.

Most times when he is away on business, he'll find a quilt store and bring me back a little something. His latest venture was into Amish country, but it was Sunday. He said, I tried going to the quilt stores but found, they aren't open on Sunday.

I love him!

Charlee 09-24-2011 06:32 AM

I have to add my spousal unit to the group! He's been known to drive 3 hours to indulge me in my vintage machine searches, will wander the quilt stores with me, will figure out a way to get something for me that he knows I want but we really can't afford...
He will spend hours trying to figure out why a machine won't sew, and puts in the muscle when I need to to move things around so that machine I didn't really need, but wanted will fit in somewhere in the house.
There ARE good men out there...it took me 41 years to find this one, and I couldn't be happier...he's a WONDERFUL man! :)

BellaBoo 09-24-2011 06:51 AM

That's great! He is a sweetheart.
I'm in Camp Me instead of Camp We. LOL. I don't want my DH being involved with my quilting.

gramarraine 09-25-2011 08:28 AM

He sounds like my hubby. I can't even begin to count the hours he has spent sitting in the car waiting for me to find the perfect fabric. I sew in my kitchen and he hardly complains about not being able to find the table. He didn't used to be this patient but through the years he has mellowed a lot.

DorisPa 09-25-2011 09:05 AM

My DH helped me re arranged and fix my sewing room. He is also very supportive and is proud of my creations. He tell every that he meets about how great crafter, quilter and cook I am, Other things I cannot mentioned here, LOL. He sounds like he is a keeper. We need more like out DH's

grannypat7925 09-25-2011 09:09 AM

Hang on to him........this kind is hard to find.

Baloonatic 09-25-2011 09:42 AM

I am SOOOO jealous! Does he have a brother?? My DH offers very little support. He has just informed me that once I am able to make the extra bedroom my sewing room (with no help from him, BTW) that the cat box will be moving in there with me and my fabric.....

Born2Sew 09-25-2011 09:55 AM

What a sweetie! Stories like this just warm my heart. It is so nice to know there are really "loving and caring" husbands out there. Have to say mine is pretty good most of the time. However, he doesn't do fabric shops well. He did go with me once and he picked out the fabric for a baby blanket and diaper bag I was going to make. He did good too!

bettysew 09-25-2011 10:59 AM

Sounds must like my DH. I would ask for a better husband than he is. Whatever I do, he is always supportative. He actually buys more fabric for me than I buy myself. He also praises everything I make. I am a lucky gal.

lvaughan 09-25-2011 11:13 AM

Thank You for posting praise for/about your husband. I love hearing about happily married couples that love and respect each other.

IdahoSandy 09-25-2011 12:10 PM

Is there any way we could clone your husband, so he could be shared? Laughing, laughing You are so lucky.

collady 09-25-2011 12:32 PM

I have a wonderful husband also. When we travel he will find a sign for a lqs and head there without even asking! He will sit for hours while I shop, and then stop at the next shop down the road. He has built things for my sewing room, and is currently building shelving units for two walls. He even remember his mother had a featherweight, and drove 4 hours so we could get it! He never questions how much I spend and even carries in fabric and washes it for me! It is nice to know that there are other husbands out there that are just as great!

tlcquiltnut 09-25-2011 12:44 PM

How very blessed you are Carrie. Isn't it nice to have a good man. Mine doesn't like praise either but sometimes they just have to have some....
Congratulations on your Gracie frame. woohoo...

frog54 09-25-2011 01:23 PM

Wonderful tribute .My husband is just like that. We are lucky women.

twixbar 09-25-2011 01:47 PM

That is really nice. Great Husband.

Sandra in Minnesota 09-25-2011 04:11 PM

Sounds like a keeper to me!

dharen7 09-25-2011 04:19 PM

last two vacations my DH stopped at quilt stores for me to visit, sil didn't believe her brother would do this so I took pictures to show her, he made a sewing room in the basement, and after it flooded after a bad rain he put everything up on 4x4, also let me bid on a singer treadle machine told me to go ahead and just pay full price, but I couldn't justify spendin the money

janetter 09-25-2011 04:50 PM

Good for both of you!!!

janetter 09-25-2011 04:53 PM

Good for both of you!!!

bondinbarrie 09-25-2011 04:53 PM

Ditto to "Best Husband". Aren't we lucky to have such understanding and helpful partners!

RobertaMarie 09-25-2011 10:55 PM

You keep right on praising your husband, and he will continue being supportive. I know, I have had mine almost fifty-nine years and he just keeps getting better. Everyone likes to be appreciated and loved, and so the old golden rule applies very nicely here. I am so glad to hear you sing his praises. Bless you!!! (both)
You can see my sweet husband who is my best friend in my avatar. ;) <3

unclefreckles 09-26-2011 06:22 AM

That is just wonderful. You are a very lucky lady. And I'm sure that your DH is a lucky man as well.

Spuddy 09-30-2011 03:50 AM

We hear so much in the news about all of the bad happenings and bad people in this world. We need to hear more about the good. Thank you for sharing about your wonderful blessing in your husband. I, too, am blessed.
