Does anyone have problems with thank yous? I make wedding quilts for my family and I request a picture of them with the quilt that I send so that I'll have a picture record. Am I asking too much or should I "get over it" like my husband says. Do you think I am too sensitive? When a baby comes, they expect a quilt.

i say get over it, the definition of a gift is: A thing given willingly to someone without payment, i think that should include thank yous. I personally think it is always the right thing to do is to write a thank you.

I agree with Nancy...

Yeah, I agree that you'll have to let it go, though I understand the struggle completely. Recently I was chiding one of my 21 year old sons friends about sending thank you (via Facebook, email, whatever... Just something!)... His reply was that he thinks just our family has expectations of a thank you, and that people shouldn't give things expecting something in return. I tried to explain to him that that wasn't the issue, but that in his case at least, the giver would like to know that the gift was even received!
Made me sad. That that really IS the mindset of so many. |
I'm lucky - everybody I give to is local. I get to watch their faces as they open their gifts.
For me the face says more than the written note. |
Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa. I always send a thank you note and I don't think the request for a pic for your quilting album is out of line. Continue to ask for the pic even if they don't say thank you when the send the pic. No excuse for bad manners, but perhaps they were not taught.

I'm with Murphy...... ask for the photo and start to accept that some people have no manners!
To send a thank you is not hard and in very good taste! Hugs |
it's just good manners but i think that is a thing of the past,
notice how few kids say ma'am and sir these days? |
Not saying "Thank you" is a lack of respect for your thoughtfulness, your kindness and your effort!
I'm with Murphy and Caroline. To rant: I'm so tired of people excusing things like this by saying its just a sign of the times! Sorry, sore subject! |
