Thanksgiving

What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving this year? We are really torn. Some family members are afraid to go out at all. Others think everything's fine. It seems such a shame to stay home and do nothing. What's the answer?

I am staying at home with Darcy and counting all my blessings

we just zoomed with son and his family tonight (they live 3+ hr away) and if they come for Thanksgiving they will likely stay with us. Their school district (so far) has had no students become sick with Covid so they are trying to get their kids back into in-person school starting Monday. So much of Thanksgiving plans will depend upon what transpires in the next month.

For us, it's just another day, although I will do at least a little cooking.

For the last several years my wife has volunteered at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital’s Fantasy of Trees event. It’s an awesome Christmas event to raise money for the hospital. Since she was tied to the area for the weekend, we have not spent a Thanksgiving with any of her family in that time. They have cancelled FOT this year, so we are thinking of traveling to GA or FL to visit family.

We will be doing an outside BBQ for just our immediate family of 4 this year.

We usually spend both Thanksgiving and Christmas Day with a lot of extended family at SOs daughters house, but have decided to forgo them this year. Both his daughter and one of the grandsons are teachers, and as much as we would like to go, cautions are better than a chance of COVID-19.

We will be staying home and be thankful that we're healthy and so are all our family members. We are thinking of making cornish hens with a bunch of sides and of course pumpkin pie. It will be a nice day to do nothing and spend time with each other.

I'll be cooking a few favorites and calling family on the phone. Usually we have family over. My father in law is in assisted living, I don't think he will come to my house. There is a comfort in being there, he feels safe. But I'll ask just in case.

We're going to our son's who has our granddaughter. They've been working from home so I don't feel paranoid going (about Covid). They are very cautious about it too.
Both my son and dil are vegetarians but still do a turkey for us and a lot of other goodies. I'm excited as I miss my granddaughter all the time!
