I'm with you bearisgray, I can't believe anyone would want it - but then I am not a textile collector.

bearisgray 08-11-2016 12:26 PM

That looked like something I would have put in the burning barrel!

SHELTIE'SMAMA 08-11-2016 12:48 PM

Possibly someone repairing an antique quilt might pay that - but first they have to find that particular needle in the haystack.

cashs_mom 08-11-2016 12:56 PM

I'm with Bear. I would have tossed it or used it for a polishing rag.

Onebyone 08-11-2016 01:09 PM

I can't imagine anyone buying that.

pojo 08-11-2016 02:33 PM

I threw better stuff than that away.

lynnie 08-11-2016 03:20 PM

it takes all kinds. Some people looking to repair something may not be aware of JA's and fabric stores.

tessagin 08-11-2016 03:28 PM

Can't believe what they want to start the bid at. Puhleeze!!!!!!!

sewbizgirl 08-11-2016 03:54 PM

From her description, she's too in love with it herself to let it go. (Or 'he'...) :D

marge954 08-11-2016 03:58 PM

If this was April 1st I'd believe it was a joke. I'd just want to know if anyone would actually buy that!

Jan in VA 08-11-2016 07:38 PM

Apparently they know something we don't -- not that I care! :D

huntannette 08-11-2016 07:45 PM

All I can say is HA HA HA!!!!

dunster 08-11-2016 08:21 PM

Just wait - someone may buy it.

bearisgray 08-11-2016 08:25 PM

The written description sure makes it look more appealing than the pictures!

ayellowrose 08-12-2016 02:32 AM

Haha! I'm going to have to pass on this one.

Polishing rag is what came to my mind too. Isn't that similar to what they used to use for final wipe down of a washed car?

Linda1 08-12-2016 03:20 AM

I with everyone else. I would have tossed it.

Geri B 08-12-2016 03:38 AM

Just like p.t. Barnum said 'there's a sucker born every day"--- or something like that.

tkee 08-12-2016 04:23 AM

It does have 0 bids. I can't imagine that changing.

Yooper32 08-12-2016 04:32 AM

I'm with the person who would use it for dusting.

ptquilts 08-12-2016 04:40 AM

From the description, the seller has a collection of things like this. We may see them someday on "My Strange Addiction" on TLC.

"I have a personal collection of various flannel textiles which have been salvaged from old drapery panels, portieres, coats, etc. This is one of my favorites and its lovely and unique/hard-to-find shade."

Judylee2 08-12-2016 05:18 AM

Wow! you guys peaked my interest so I went to take a look. Interesting, looks as if she found an old trunk with rotting clothes in it and took salvaged pieces to try to make money. The age of the pieces is what she is so proud of. One problem though, most of it is from 1950 to current time. Someone will fall for the story and purchase a piece of history! NOT ME!

Geri B 08-12-2016 05:31 AM

I scrolled down to near bottom of page and saw a few more "antique" fabric offerings. The one I really smiled at was the Mexican scraps offering. Ladies, we are waiting time sewing scraps, let's sell them!!

Roberta 08-12-2016 07:22 AM

I would use it to cover plants before a frost.

Jeanne S 08-12-2016 07:40 AM

Although I love ebay (I both buy and sell on it), there are lots of idiots out there. Did you see the listings from some Disney Beauty and The Beast VHS tapes for $10,000 and more????

I'm with you. Looks like the lining of an old trunk....

Evie 08-12-2016 09:19 AM

It's either cotton flannel or chamois, it can't be both. If it is chamois, I think you can still get it stores selling auto supplies. It's been a long time since I've bought a piece since I don't wash my car myself. :D

ShirlR 08-12-2016 10:05 AM

Egads! Count me out on this one, ha ha!

callen 08-12-2016 04:23 PM

They are kidding, right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

annette1952 08-12-2016 07:32 PM

It is amazing sometimes on Ebay. I have come across some great buys on Ebay over the years but there are always a few that think there product is rare & made of gold. They have their prices double or triple from the quilt shops plus the shipping is so far fetched it must be shipped from Mars! You wonder where they come up with their pricing

maviskw 08-13-2016 04:22 AM

[QUOTE=Evie;7625614]It's either cotton flannel or chamois, it can't be both.

They said it was "chamois colored"and "chamois soft". If we could see this piece in person, and if we were fabric collectors, we might have a different opinion.
I see the bidding has been closed as of yesterday.

nwm50 08-13-2016 03:00 PM

Whoa!! Unbelievable prices but some are older fabrics maybe not in stock anywhere?

Sandra in Minnesota 08-13-2016 05:08 PM

Couldn't believe the condition of the fabric! Thought it was a typo or something. Who would try to sell such junk?

maryellen2u 08-13-2016 05:59 PM

No offense meant but I think someone is saying antique and other fine words to pass off an old piece of dirty flannel. There's a sucker behind every bush and someone willing to take advantage!

bearisgray 08-13-2016 07:26 PM

I had seriously considered putting up a couple of my DH's worn out t-shirts - they are very very worn and full of holes - I thought they would go nicely with the torn jean look.

cashs_mom 08-13-2016 08:53 PM

Well, obviously it wasn't that good. No one bid on it.

Gay 08-13-2016 10:37 PM

I have a whole lace dress, floor length with long sleeves, and can guarantee it's early 1900s. Might be worth a fortune on ebay eh? The ladies must have been skinny back then, 'cause the only thing it will fit nowadays is my broomstick. And the wearer must have been 6ft tall. Funny that I can't bear to part with it though.
