Tiny Gymnasts abound!

My 4-year old son & 3-year old daughter start gymnastics on Tuesday and I'm trying to look into leotard and singlet making...

Does ANYONE have any info about where I could get free leotard or singlet patterns online?

Also, ANY tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what a singlet is. I made a tutu and found lots of free patterns online by googling the question. Your kids a re such fun ages. I hope you fully enjoy them each day. Those days slip by so fast!

Found these, but you will have to investigate further to see if they are suitable for little ones:

If you have not sewn really stretchy swim-type fabric before, be sure to Google tutorials on working with it.

Also found this Youtube video, but I haven't watched it so don't know what they use for a pattern:

Years ago I made leotards for my daughter and her friend with a "Stretch and Sew" pattern. My granddaughter is now in gymnastics and I don't have the pattern, but make one up with her measurements and tracing the outline of one in a store. They are super easy to make - it's 2 pieces (front and back), shoulder seams, crotch seam and elastic at all the openings. You can sometimes find them online for sale for as little as $12 and I don't mind paying that, but the $40-45 in the gym is too much. You have to save money for when they go into competitive gymnastics and have to buy the team leotards and pants and jacket - that's really expensive.

Take a tank top that fits and trace a pattern and make them of stretchy material. Does your daughter have any old tights? If so use them for pattern, making one pair a little longer and bigger.

A singlet is a boy version of a leotard. Usually have a tank top type top and come down to mid thigh. My grandsons wore them when they were in wrestling.

I know you asked about free patterns, but you may want to check out http://kwiksew.mccall.com/swimwear--...pages-3350.php Kwiksew patterns. They are multi sized and have really good instructions.

Jalie http://www.jalie.com/sports-apparel/...vbo310cjat5a24 also has great active wear patterns. They are almost all in sizes 2 to very large adult.

I used Kwiksew patterns to make my daughter gymnastic and figure skating outfits. I have not used the Jalie ones, but have read great reviews (although they can run small in the sleeve) on them at Pattern review http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-...&search=Search
