Hi all,
I recently inherited a nice set of Tupperware measuring cups -- you know, those yellow/green/orange sets that were sold in the 70s and 80s? I really like them except for one thing: they all look a bit, um, grimy. I've tried washing them, scrubbing them, etc, but to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd soak them in bleach if I wasn't worried that they'd dissolve! :lol:

Make a paste with baking soda, scrub them with that and a damp cloth. It make take a little elbow grease, but they should come clean :D:D:D

Tupperware won't dissolve in bleach

I use the magic eraser, you buy in the cleaning supplies at most stores. I found they clean most everything wonderfully. Since they are non-abrasive, they do not scratch plastics.

soak in bleach, it won't dissolve the plastic and then wash them by hand or in your machine if you have one.

I use diluted bleach in my Tupperware bowls.

spray with clorox cleanup, let sit a few minutes, scrub lightlly in hot soapy water.

A good soak in the blue Dawn soap, scrub with a blue scrubber, and if necessary, soak in diluted bleach. Wash again in the Dawn, rinse, and should be clean.

If this still won't work, get the blue scrubber and some Bon Ami scouring powder. Wash again in the Dawn, rinse, and now should be ok.

If it's greasy grim....original blue Dawn and Wd40 will cut through it nicely...
1. spray with WD40
2. Wash with Dawn and very hot water.

I was a Tupperware consultant for many years....Concetration of bleach and dawn also for discolored pieces.

I agree with all above except the WD40 one....I've just never tried that so can't recommend it.

BUT, if you decide you want to sell those, I'll buy them!!! I LOVE the Tupperware measuring cups.......they have 2/3 and 3/4 cup in the set.

The TSP in Cascade is wonderful for stain removal. Not all dishwasher detergents have it. I have used it to clean out old coffee pots and it works like a charm. Had an old electric percolator that belonged to my grandmother, never been cleaned out, other than hand washing. Developed a nasty stain inside. Since I'm not a coffe drinker, I was wanting to use the pot to heat water. Running a perc. cycle with about a tablespoon of Cascade to clean it was just the ticket. Also soak the hot tub filters in a bucket with Cascade in it. Blah, blah, blah, after all of that, my point is, Cascade and the dishwasher should do it. (I feel as if I just presented an infomercial for Cascade! :oops:

Oh, I didn't mean to mix the two.... Use the bleach to get the stain out... rinse and then use dawn to wash as usual.
NO.... Never mix Bleach and Dawn.... Or Bleach and any other cleaner....

I put them in the dishwasher, without much improvement, so I'll try the bleach trick and report back. :)
