It's going to be a scortcher! I'm looking for a new recipe that won't heat up the kitchen-any suggestions?

How about the grilled chicken strips you can get at the grocery in in a nice, cool salad loaded with dark green lettuce and vegetables? Actually I can't stand the preservatives in those strips, so we grill extra meat on the weekends and I use that up all week with different dishes.

Sounds like a good idea. Lately, we've been having a lot of main dish salads, but that hasn't been one of them. Definitely need something light in weather like this. I'm like you-don't like all the preservatives, but maybe just this once. . .

I also like to use the slow cooker in this weather...doesn't heat up the kitchen and you still can have a great meal. I did a pork roast over the weekend, then use the leftovers to make BBQ pulled pork. All in the crockpot, easy and no heat in the house.

I was going to suggest a big chef salad, with some crusty bread.....

I too, use the slow cooker a lot. Not because of heat, but that is a good reason, but because it cooks a great meal and I can spend more time quilting and less time cooking. I also get my SO to fire up the grill.

Last night I made a Veggie Pizza. The only cooking is 10 minutes to cook the crust. Not enough to heat the house up!

Once a week I put chicken breasts in the crock pot, then we use them in many different ways. The meat is so tender & just flakes apart & we use a lot less meat this way. I can get at least 4 meals from 3 breasts.

Try this - tuna in can, add what you normally like in your tuna salad (eggs, onion, pickle, mayo). Purchased texas style bread (1 inch thick) and muenster cheese. This cheese is not a strong cheese. It's white and lite. Butter each side and grill your sandwich. Add lettuce and tomato after grilling if you want. Add chips optional. Awesome, doen't heat the kitchen up, filling.

I do nearly all my cooking outside... I use a gas grill, I have a 3 burner gas cook stand, and a smoker. I love cooking outside! Someday I hope to have an outdoor wood pizza oven!
