We office in our home and we sent our sons and Grandson home before it started. I got in a little space under the stair area with my pillow and computer.ha. I told my husband to go find his own fraidy hole. ha. Barny

I live 20 miles away from the area in Indiana that was hit by the tornadoes a few weeks ago. The mother who lost her legs protecting her children lived in a solid brick house with a basement. It was totally demolished, nothing was left. The fact that a house like that was destroyed is scary!

My thoughts and prayers to everyone in the DFW area. My heart goes out to the people living in the area.

It hit us here in NE Texas about a hour ago (8:30 pm) Just heavy rain, a lot of thunder and lightning. Texas has been hit hard today.

I work in Dallas & live in Plano. They did evacuate the building where I work, but no tornadoes were in the immediate area. My home is still standing; the kitties were a little traumatized, but settled out quickly

My brother lives in Greenville, TX. His son is a sheriff's deputy in Dallas. His son called him and said there's a tornado headed straight for you, get out of town, so my brother and SIL gathered the animals and headed south. Around Cash they stopped in a parking lot because the wind was getting so strong. Suddenly the truck was lifted about a foot off the ground and started shaking like it was trying to shake the change out of their pockets. The wind died down and the truck fell back to the ground. It scared them both pretty bad, but everyone in the family is doing ok. No damage to family or their homes. Thank God.

Did anyone see the one video with the semi trailers/trucks being just picked up and thrown around ? wow I watched that as it wasn't far from the Dallas terminal of the trucking company I work for .. Just blew my mind what can happen in a tornado
I do hope all in Dallas and the area that was hit are ok .. prayers to all

The tornadoes in Texas were shown on our stations here. What an ordeal with the 18 wheelers flying in the air. No one is safe in tornadoes unless you are in a ground shelter or "safe room" - steel walled room in your house. We are about to be at the one year mark here in AL when it was such a horrible night. Actually we are also at a 38 year mark that we just passed on April 3rd, 1974 where there were tornadoes flying all around us (I know at least 5 were on the ground that night). Praying for a safe spring. Bless that mother that lost her legs and all the others who lost family members and lost everything.

I live in the Dallas area, as far as I know no one was seriously hurt. Several homes damaged.

Texasjunebug 04-05-2012 10:15 PM

Over 600 homes damaged without a single known fatality, according to the news. My Ds house was spared by three blocks. Thank goodness.

alikat110 04-06-2012 09:10 AM

the Random nature of Tornados is fascinating....thank God above that no one was killed during these events. What makes this different from the recent ones in Alabama is that it occurred during daytime.
This season has just begun....
