I don't have a TV but on Youtube on my Kindle, I keep getting an ad for a legislator in the next state. Person claims, "one fall, and the medical bills meant we lived paycheck to paycheck for years. (Legislator) passed a bill banning surprise medical bills".

I don't get it. You had an accident, and it came with massive medical bills. What would it matter if you knew about them beforehand (which you wouldn't, because the hospital doesn't know all that you will need when you come in with a trauma) - if it's $50K, it's $50K. Knowing about it beforehand won't make a difference in your finances. What are you going to do, refuse medical treatment for a trauma?

I agree with the underlying premise, if you are having your gall bladder removed, they should be able to tell you beforehand what the bill will be. But the example they picked for the ad doesn't make sense.

Peanut butter box!

Chewy has an ad where two dogs look out the window and see the chewy box on their steps. The little one says peanut butter box is here. Bigger, older?, One says no it’s our medicine she just puts it in peanut butter. While it is cute I think it has a subliminal message in it because almost without fail when that commercial comes on our a little Chihuahua, poodle,St. Bernard mix (honest, had DNA done just for fun) barks and barks perhaps thinking somebody is reliving it to our door. It always makes us laugh.

I subscribe to Chewy for my cats food and litter. They are a hoot. They always have very funny and catchy sayings on their website. Also reading customer reviews makes me laugh my head off. Animal people can be so funny!
I don't think I've ever seen an ad though, but I bet they're good.

you know - the advertisers spend a lot of time and money selecting the demographics of the actors on the commercials based on the markets in which they are shown. Me personally - I think diversity is beautiful. But the bottom line for the advertisers is making money.

I am getting tired of all the Medicare/Insurance ads aimed at senior citizens.

About the best thing I can say for them, the hucksters speak slowly and distinctly!!!

I find the 'poise in the pants' commercial especially insulting, along with all the ed commercials. Just too 'in your face' & I turn off sound or leave the room. glad to not have small kids who would ask questions long before they are old enough to understand.

Now you can understand how minorities felt for decades.

Yeah, I wonder, if Medicare Advantage is so great, why all the ads for it? I have a Plan G with BCBS. They don't need to run ads for it.

I used to love the "Mayhem" commercials I think they were for Allstate insurance.

I absolutely hate those ads! It just goes to show that people have different likes and dislikes.

I'm fed up with the "check your zip code" ads. Doesn't Joe Namath have something better to do, like selling pantyhose? I like most ads with animals (except when they superimpose a talking mouth on the animal's face).

Has any one seen the new commercial for Jeep and the dinosaur? It's a hoot.

farmquilter 06-10-2022 09:09 AM

I despise all the Medicare ads; some insurance companies are calling their plan--Medicare Part C. The one ad that is the worst is a woman nagging her husband to call and she just talks and talks but if she knows it all why did she not do the calling.
The drug ads can be more deadly than the old ads for cigarettes and booze that have been banned for health reasons.

The Omega-3 ads run for almost 5 minutes here along with Cindy Crawford and her $$$$ beauty products and then the skin ad by Jane Seymore runs about the same.

bearisgray 06-10-2022 10:06 AM

How come the commercials are short when I need to take a bathroom break?

Doggramma 06-17-2022 06:50 AM

I only like the ones with animals. And I HATE the drug ads. I mean, really, how many people even have that specific ailment.

Quiltwoman44 06-17-2022 07:41 AM

I don't think I've popped in here but i love the Pampers ad with the new mother and her baby, when they place the baby on her chest and it's looking up at her while she talks to it. so cute!!!
all other commercials are so bad for the most part.

Peckish 06-17-2022 09:25 AM

The drug ads really bother me. Does anyone else see a conflict of interest between the sheer volume of pharmaceutical ads we see during news broadcasts, and those same broadcasts telling us we need vaccinations or we'll die?

farmquilter 06-17-2022 12:03 PM

I saw another bad one the other day. A Mom is in a hospital setting in the bed. The family members are looking sad until the Mom tells them she has life insurance for her final expenses. You can get up to $30,000 insurance when she dies---then they are not sad anymore.

Quiltwoman44, I LOVE that ad but it is an old one, I wonder how old the baby is now.

ladyinpurple135 06-18-2022 10:58 AM

Doctors do not like the drug ads and really don’t appreciate their, patients going into their office asking/demanding this or that medication. The only one I take is Ozempic and have been taking since before I saw the ads - has worked perfectly for my diabetes and lost over 20lbs. But never, ever tell anyone to go and get this medication - only a Doctor can do that if it is warranted. Oh, and it’s not cheap at the Pharmacy!!!!!

Another ad that really bugs me is the one where the guy tells you they have information that your cc company doesn't want you to know. It sends a message that you aren't really responsible for debts you run up. Every time I see that guy I want to smack him. LOL
Lawyer ads are horrible. My Dad was a lawyer and the first time he saw an ad on TV he just shook his head. He was so dignified and that really bothered him. To him law was a profession, not a business.

Swathy 06-28-2022 10:58 AM

I don't like any commercials. If I'm watching TV it gets muted during commercial breaks. Same with youtube. Thankfully streaming services are largely without commercials, or tend to have very few.

quiltsfor 06-28-2022 11:48 AM

I love this commercial, this company makes some good ones. Guinness Commercial

SuzzyQ 06-28-2022 07:00 PM

My Dh used to record/PVR every show he wanted to watch. Then he could fast forward through the commercials. Now I watch tv (as it's meant to be :)) commercials and all. I even watch them Usually on stuff I've PVR'd. Don't necessarily like them but I need a break from the show... I guess. There still are commercials I'll fast forward but I'm usually too lazy or busy to do so.
