Using old linens
 

I’ve been soaking DGM and Mom’s old linens in Oxy Clean with good results. I’m going to attach the smallest items to new dish towels and wear them out that way. I may make new sewing machine covers and a curtain for my sewing room. One tablecloth had many coffee rings, it’s now so nice, I can use it. How have you repurposed old linens?

Speaking of old tablecloths, I met a lady at a flea market who collects them. She takes great joy in soaking out stains and making them beautiful. She has 300 and changes them out periodically. How interesting.

I mostly use old tablecloths on the table. Other than that, I did make a jacket out of one tablecloth with an Asian motif. I enjoyed making that one, even though it took me most of a day to figure out how to cut it to get the motifs where I wanted them. I used almost the entire tablecloth with just some very small scraps left.

She re-uses old linens ... the embroideries for new projects
as well as the fabric for new embroideries.

I've seen some damask tablecloths that were quilted kind of like whole cloth quilts. They were beautiful.

I love linen and lace table cloths. I find them for next to nothing second hand, wash them and use them on the table. If they have a few stains, I do not worry and use those ones for everyday. I keep the fancy ones for company. I love linen napkins too. I have yardage that is meant to be cut into linen place mats and more that is for table clothes. One day I will cut them up.

Thanks for posting and for the links that were supplied. I really like the pillows that used old linens on the fronts. I have some and have wondered what to do with them. Now I have a few ideas. Thanks!
