using a sweist's talent on a mower.

My GF's favorite mower developed holes in the deck. She loves that lawnmower mower so I had to fix it. I was considering how to patch it and it seemed like I would have to make an articulated patch like plate armour on a knght. That ws going to be a lot of work. I went inside. "Honey, I needs your pattern making skills. I am dealing with compound curves and my patch metal is flat." She pondered it a while and said, "You need a dart." OK, I know what those are but had no idea how to make one. We grabbed a piece of cardstock, She marked it, cut it, folded it and it looked wonderful. We traced it onto flashing. I cut that out, folded it like her pattern and then we pop riveted it on. . It works well. 55 years of fashion seing paid off in steel.

We sewists are resourceful if nothing else - DH's lawn sweeper got invaded by mice over the winter and they chewed a hole in the mesh part of the bag.
Dental floss for thread, darning needle, and mesh for making beach bags for a patch! Back in service quickly, and a happy hubby. (Happy wife too as we didn't have to buy a new one).
He had already tried duck tape, but the patch wouldn't stick....
