Julie in NM 10-30-2011 10:28 AM

Had to get my dl renewed last week. Went thru the ordeal of admitting to age and weight. Everything else was the same on my old license adrs, eye color, and height.

Examiner asked for hair color...said variegated. DH rolled is eyes. Examiner asked again and replyed VARIGAED...blonde, grey, and brown.

He laughed and said of the three which do you choose?

Blonde.

New license will be here within in week!

Good one!! That's me, too, and I've got to go get mine this week. Expired in July....bad, bad, bad me. My excuse is going to be that I had to wait until I had my hair highlighted for my photo!!!! LOL

Actually, I've been sick off and on and the DL station is a good ways away!

nativetexan 10-30-2011 11:14 AM

at the time i got mine my hair was white. i told him I guess he must put down gray, he said nope they have white. so white is was. i've since had a bit of color added since I'm looking for work.

Those dang things expire too quickly! Actually mine expired and didn't find out until I used it at our bank to open an account. They wouldn't do it until I had it renewed. Something you just don't remember to check.

athomenow 10-30-2011 12:59 PM

They have to send you your new license? I get mine in a couple of minutes after the picture is taken. Wonder if that's a state to state thing where it's different.

MawMaw, don't get caught driving on a expired license even if it's just a day. Ask me how I know. Car towed, got a ticket and it ended up costing me over $200. I've never forgotten again!

Some states print them right there in the DMV for you, but some, you have to wait for them to be processed, then printed and mailed.

I like your dh's reaction the best!

Chicca 10-30-2011 01:32 PM

Made me smile and then think of what my Grandmothers response would have been....White with Blue highlights! Hee, Hee, Hee....I sure do miss her.

Julie, I was just looking at mine yesterday. It says I still weigh ??? !!!!! I guess they don't really know how big, big is! What is with NM doing the "we'll send your license to you. If it isn't there in 45 days, contact. . . . " Didn't we used to walk out with it? I got mine in about a week, though (this past March.) I look all jaundice-y, though. Really bad lighting. I guess the state is looking for $$$ any way they can get it. We have to fork over an additional $4.00 to fund the building! Had to be a separate check, too!

ptquilts 10-30-2011 04:26 PM

hey, gray is the new blonde!!

misseva 11-03-2011 07:14 AM

Here in Arkansas - they send you a notice the year your license expires which is ON YOUR BIRTHDAY not the end of the month like it used to be. And we've gotten more humane - they only list your sex, height, and color of EYES. Since our hair/weight are subject to change so much they're not much good for identification. lol

A few years back when I was still coloring my hair I had to get new driver's license, examiner asked what color my hair was and I said #246 ! He looked like I had uttered a profanity ! It was great...

The other day I was at JA's....older lady was waiting for her fabric to be cut and she mentioned she is 87 years old and had had a stroke a while back, but was still busy crocheting, etc......said she used that "irrigation" thread....bless her sweet heart she meant varigated ! I'm not making fun of her by no means, I had a stroke last year and in my mind I knew the word I wanted but what came out of my mouth was something else ! One night my daughter asked if I needed a fork or a spoon to eat my dinner and my reply was a cup !
