Victorian Batting Dolls
2 Attachment(s)
I have managed to make some more batting dolls over the past year. Every once in a while I have a get together with a friend and we sit and make Batting dolls. They are very time consuming as they are made entirely by hand and hand stitched. I am quite hooked on them and feel I have improved on the original ones that I first made. They are the two in the picture with father Christmas. He is the most recently made one and I am very happy with him. I feel the first two a little on the anorexic side, I now pad them a little more and I am much happier with the finished result. I hope to get a couple more made before the year is ended. We mostly only get one finished and maybe another started during the few hours we get together to make them.

Very unique and beautiful. Do they have greeting card faces??

Those are absolutely delightful. I would like more info on the faces too --- looks like something I might try. I'm getting older and bucket list is getting longer -- what's a girl to do?

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=v...FQWfpgod8y8JWg I now what you mean about the bucket list getting longer and we are getting older. I try to make every minute count, I don't sleep a lot as I figure one day I am going to have a very long sleep, and I don't need to spent ,my time here sleeping it away. |

I had never seen batting dolls before. They are super cute. You did a really good job with them. Thanks for sharing.

I too had never seen this type of doll. You must have the patience of Job, to do all that hand work and such beautiful results too.
|
These are fabulous, you did great work.

Those are wonderful!! Just lovely to see. Thanks for sharing.
|
Would you share more about the process of making these beautiful dolls? They are so cute.
|
I'd like to live close to you and join you when you get together with your friend. I'll bet you all have so much fun! What do you use for the body of the doll? I can see making the clothing out of batting, what how do you start? Yep, am happier with hand projects now vs sitting at the machine for a few hours. thanks so much for sharing and if you could direct me to a pattern, I'd just love it! Take care, Susan

How sweet they are! You do very nice hand work to make them so life like. I have been saving an image for some time to construct something like this. Funny, I didn't know about these.

Those are so pretty. I have also wanted to make a doll even a simple one to start with.
RedGarnet that is pretty. Would work well it seems on one of these. I love Victorian anything. Susan |
