vinyl blinds
What do you do with the extra blades when you are putting up new vinyl blinds? We are really into recycling and I hate to throw them away.
|
We have recycle day every other Monday. I put mine in there.
|
I never shorten mine.
|
If they are wide enough you can use them for templates.
|
We had a couple left over after the installation so I put them away in a flat space in case one breaks.

Garden labels!

You can make snap purses for yourself and all your friends! They call for pieces of tape measures but your blind slats may work if you double them up. Here is a pattern: http://www.uen.org/cte/facs_cabinet/...ag_Pattern.pdf

I cut them in 6" strips, write name with permanent marker, punch holes with paper punch & attach to rulers and scissors with pretty ribbon or strip of fabric to take to quilting class. everyone has the same tools & this keeps mine unique

I leave mine on the blinds. Vinyl blinds are light weight, and the added weight helps them to drop when I let them down. Also, they can break if bent, which my cats did when trying to look out at the birds in the morning before I got up, so there was no hunting for spares to repair them. BTW, repairing and restringing them is not rocket science, just requires a little study and patience, so don't throw them out if the string breaks or the webs tear.

Thanks for all the ideas. I am going to save some to make snap purses and then recycle the rest.
