Visiting Apex, NC

We will be visiting our DS and DDIL in Apex NC in August. Any great quilt shops or flea markets in the area? Our son says the historic downtown is really nice and within walking distance from their home. Any great shops there?

Wish upon a quilt in Raleigh. Cary quilt shop in Cary. There's a little shop in Wake Forest that's worth a visit. The best shop I've found is in Winston Salem. Sew Original, in Sherwood Plaza. It's about an hour drive from you, but we'll worth the effort.

How long are you going to be there? If you have time for a day trip, go to Mary's Jo's in Gastonia on the west side of Charlotte. It is worth the trip.

Wish Upon a Quilt in Raleigh and Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill. Enjoy your visit to Apex.

I second the motion on Wish Upon a Quilt (Westgate Park Drive in Raleigh). They are the friendliest people - and the shop is full of fabric and project ideas! Another place that I could spend hours is the Bernina World of Sewing Shop in Raleigh - beautiful fabric and project ideas on walls. Good thing I don't get out to shop much! I would be broke.

And the state Farmers Market in Raleigh is wonderful! NC has 3 (I think) of these markets, and they are well done.

Interesting you would highlight Sew Original as the best shop. I live about 3 miles from the shop and it's not even my favorite shop in Winston. It's amazing how we all value different things.

To the original poster, I would try looking at the Row by Row site. It has many participating quilt shops in NC.

findxdesigns is located in Sanford..I think that's about 30 minutes or so from Apex..as I remember, the last time I was there, it was a really nice shop..

There is a great flea market Saturday's and Sunday's at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. http://www.raleighfleamarket.net Wish Upon a Quilt is a wonderful quilt shop (with somewhat limited hours--be sure to check before you go) especially if you like modern fabrics.
