warning!

I just got an email titled 'USPS notification'. It is a scam and has a virus in it. My software caught it! So don't open if you get one.

Mariposa 02-19-2013 02:28 PM

Thanks for the heads up!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 02-19-2013 02:36 PM

Thanks for sharing.

I haven't gotten one of those, but I did get one that "looked" like it was from the IRS. I've already deleted it, but it was telling me my fraudulent refund was not accepted. That's wonderful since I haven't filed anyway, nor do I get a refund either. It was also addressed to several others who all have the same internet provider that we use. It gave a link to click on for further info, which I most certainly did not do.

Quiltaddict 02-19-2013 03:49 PM

I used to get those all the time, plus ones supposedly from FedEx and UPS. I just delete them all.

mountain deb 02-19-2013 04:29 PM

Thanks for letting us all know.

mighty 02-19-2013 08:59 PM

I also get those never open them I just delete.

owlvamp 02-19-2013 09:01 PM

Thanks or sharing!

masufa 02-19-2013 09:20 PM

yes I got one to, but since I hadn't ordered anything I didn't open it. I did a search for the name and found out it was from the Virgin Islands lottery.

jitkaau 02-20-2013 04:43 AM

The FedEx and Ups scam goes all the way to Australia - makes one FED-Up!

ptquilts 02-20-2013 06:10 AM

I even got one from the NY state police - wonder how they got my email address??lol

DonnaC 02-20-2013 07:44 AM

There are so many of these stupid scams now... I've gotten e-mails from UPS, FedEx, the USPS... heck, even one from the FBI! Just delete them. They are SO annoying!

nativetexan 02-20-2013 08:05 AM

I've gotten several. i know they would not email me so i just delete. most come in my yahoo email and i've had it for well over 10 yrs. frustrating.

Caswews 02-20-2013 10:22 AM

Yeppers its going around again .. All I gotta say is they have an awful lot of time on their hands to do this .. LOL

Stitchit123 02-20-2013 10:45 AM

I get FED-EX - USPS - UPS and WesternUnion stuff all the time. I do not open them. I can not understand why these scammers think anyone gives out their e/mail address to any of these outfits. Althou WesternUnion is sort of funny. My long lost Uncle Bernard Jones of London has recently died -AGAIN- 2 heart attacks and 3 airplane crashes to date. But I'm his only living relative. Can't figure out how they can't find my Father-3 brothers and 1 sister and all of our kids.We are all within 20 minutes of each other. But with Uncle Bernie's resilient come backs it gives me hope of a very long life - lol

quiltmau 02-20-2013 10:58 AM

UPS and FEDEX have the same scam. DO NOT OPEN. I don't know about the rest of you but I am getting tired of all the scams aimed at hard working people. We all know about the bank scams and the Nigerian scams but these people are not trying to offer something for nothing-they are just trying to get info about us thru undermining of our home/computer security.

quiltmau 02-20-2013 11:00 AM

gotta love it!!

Stitchnripper 02-20-2013 02:02 PM

I also see them either in the Spam folder or sometimes they get through, but I always delete without opening.

Thank you so much.

Yep....and don't pay attention to the text messages that appear on your mobile (cell) phone. Apparently I won a million pounds on Saturday night and Sunday morning won another 750 thousand pounds.

quilter1943 02-20-2013 06:36 PM

A friend here in Central Florida got the email too, early in January. Didn't seem to be any reason why they were targeted. Did a "go back" and that cleared it.

These can destroy everything in your computer, my husband opened on last year, lost everything plus hard drive.

caspharm 02-21-2013 09:58 AM

I've gotten those and check offers, etc. Yahoo has been doing a good job and putting them in Spam. I just delete them.

quiltmom04 02-21-2013 10:14 AM

Our local TV station is always saying THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL! So if you get something from a government agency, it's a fraud!

Be very care opening e-mails from Paypal. Since I almost never do business with them, there should be no reason for them to want to know about my bank account.

Sheepshed 02-21-2013 01:18 PM

I have received those in past years also... yup, is a scam

w7sue 02-21-2013 10:00 PM

I have also learned it is good to hover over the senders information if the subject line is suspect. I have a friend who emails me every once in a while, but I always hover over her information because there are many times it isn't really from her. I can't open them and send them to her because the damage is done then.

I also don't open emails from people I don't know unless we have talked and I will tell them to put something special in the subject line so I know it's from them and is safe to open.
