For the first time we are inviting as many as can fit around our table. My husband was so cute and sheepishly asked if it was ok. I told him that this is one time he does not need my permission to invite people over. Just give me a few days to prepare!! I cannot tell you how excited I am to have these men come over!! My husband is going to give each soldier a bag of supplies (shavers, creams and treats) I will make up a left overs basket for them to take home!! This will go along to teach our kids that giving is more than getting!!

I'm sure they will have a great time and appreciate all you and yours do. Thank you from an AF (10yrs) mom.

That is wonderful! I'm sure that this will be one of the best memories of your life. What a wonderful idea.

I'm ashamed that I never thought of doing such a thing. I will keep it in my to-do list, however this year I am not having Christmas at home. My oven went last Friday during the holiday baking so I am going to my daughters for Christmas.

Take tons of pictures and please share. I would love to see them, and tell your guests THANK YOU for protecting our country. If it wasn't for people like them, America would not be here today!

Huge Hugs and have a Wonderful Christmas. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family and new "friends"!

Oh what a amazing christmas you will have. I hate to see anyone alone during the holidays. I always try to invite anyone I know that will be alone on Thanksgiving or Christmas to our house. I believe the more the merrier! I'm always amazed at the smiles and hugs I receive, even my sons have said thanks Mom for inviting their friends. You will have a wonderful day.

What an incredible idea! I never even thought about it. Are the soldiers at a base and how did this come to pass? Thanks for doing this for our soldiers. Maybe you've started something on this board for next year. May God bless you and our soldiers this holiday season.

Quiltforme 12-22-2010 06:58 PM

Yes the live on base we have a couple up here different branches. We have a wife of soldier who we are helping out she is getting us in contact with the base commander (forgive me if I have the wrong terminology my husband is so much better at that than me) After we thought about it we decided to invite as many as we can. I know there are some programs that will match you up with a solider it is a great program and we cannot wait to do this next year. I just picked up a bigger ham just to make sure they are not leaving the table hungry :)

Thanks to you and your DH for doing this for soldiers who are alone at Christmas. My son is in the AF in Alaska and I know how comforted I would feel if a family were doing for him what you are doing. My son will be getting together with co-workers so he will not be alone. He is a very long way from home and we miss him terribly.

You are WONDERFUL for doing this!!!!

kjdavis4 12-22-2010 07:37 PM

Thank you so much for thinking of this. What a blessing for everyone involved. Also a great learning opportunity for your chidlren. Merry Christmas!

omak 12-22-2010 07:45 PM

Thank you to you AND your family!
THat is a very special man that you call "husband" - - there are a lot of men who never think of such a thing unless their wives nag. He is definitely a keeper.
Merry Christmas <wave>
And, don't forget to tell the soldiers that there are three things in the world to NEVER forget!
1) God loves them
2) We love them
3) The sun will rise in the morning

and, there are more citizens in America grateful for their service than are taking it for granted.

Boscobd 12-22-2010 08:33 PM

What a wonderful thing for you and your family to do for these folks who put themselves in harm's way so that we can live in freedom. Please say "thank you" to them for all of us!
