Well, we made it through the storm with only minor damage and no power for awhile. Towns all around us, just a few minutes away weren't so lucky. Lots of severe flooding, bridges out and trees down....no power and unfotunately a couple deaths due to flooding.

Lots of neighborhoods in my town were evacuated because we are right on the Mohawk River in Upstate NY and they say tomorrow it will only get worse because all this water will be heading for the rivers and streams. We got about 8 inches of rain in less than 24 hours.

All of this isn't normal for our area. We even had a couple small earthquakes over the last week causing power outages.

Well I hope everyone stayed safe and now the clean up begins. In times like this it really makes you appreciate the things we have, especially our families and friends. Prayers going out to all the families who weren't so lucky.

If anyone has contacted me regarding the items I have had up for sale on the classifieds and I haven't contacted you....this is why. I hope to get caught up with answering all my messages this week. I am sorry for the delay in contacting you. If I have missed you and you are still interested please send me a new PM and I will get to you this week for sure.

Everyone stay safe! {{{{HUGS}}}

You'd think with all the snow you get that Irene would have turned east before it hit you. Thank goodness you're okay. DI

Thank God you made it through the storm.

On Flylady, she's always talking about de-cluttering. And just a few moments ago I got one of the emails that hit home at this date and time. It said, more or less, "Do you have so much clutter that you would be glad to see your house burn down or blow away?"

It tells of talking to survivors, some of whom, after they get out of shock, actually like the clean, sparse houses they move into later.

I'm now going through my house and looking at this and that...actually LOOKING at everything. If I don't love it or need it, or think I may use it in a year or so, and the kids don't want it, just why am I keeping it?

So glad to hear that you and your family are safe and didn't have to much damage due to the storm. So sorry to hear that a couple of people lost their lives though, but bad things happen when those storms hit.

Had no power or no phone no computer all day today. Our city is a disaster today from the rising waters. We are fine at my house but the other end of our city is destroyed and they even had to evacuate our city hospital. Here are a couple photos...very very sad....

Yes the post office is open...

This is our little train station...

Thank you for sharing reality. Many don't, or, get deleted! I am a realist and will add you to our prayer list.

I'm so glad you're ok.
Soooo much flooding nearby! And such huge trees on houses & other buildings.
Stay safe.

Thanks for the pics so we can see what is actually happening up there. I'm so tired of the hyped up "news" that we keep getting out here.

Sienna's GiGi 08-29-2011 11:01 PM

God Bless you and your family! I am glad to know you all are safe!

JBeamer 08-30-2011 12:03 AM

Thank goodness you all are ok. It sure looks awful up there. Hope the waters in your town go down quickly.

grannyp70 08-30-2011 05:44 AM

OH my gosh how horriable, I feel sorry for all those people there, but I am glad to hear that you are safe in your part of town. Hope you will have a wonderful day. Hugs and prayers are coming your way.

Jingle 08-30-2011 06:05 AM

I had a few minutes before bed and wanted to post an update....

Thank you all again for your prayers.

The waters have receded and the cleanup begins. There are over 700 livestock missing(horses and cows), 3 fires in our city last night (one just up the street from my Mom)their generator exploded in the attached garage, some still have no power, some have lost everything. Our city has never seen devastation like this. It is amazing what Mother Nature can do in just a few hours.....

This is what alot of the streets look like...people emptying their homes of what has been damaged.....so very sad
