I found this in a box of garage sale things and have no idea what it is. It has double rollers on it. Anyone know what it might be? No id on it except made in China.

nativetexan 04-21-2015 02:35 PM

Ha, ha. Isn't everything made in China? Not sure what it is though. I cleaned out my hubby's garage and found some interesting items in there too. No idea what they do.

Is it something to do with setting screen netting into the storm door when repairing/replacing it? It's hard to tell without some sort of scale or hint as to it's size!

Foxglove 04-21-2015 02:57 PM

Looks like a wrapping paper cutter I used to have. Hold the roll of wrapping paper tight and run the cutter across.

barny 04-21-2015 05:06 PM

Could it be a knife sharpener?

yel 04-21-2015 05:34 PM

how heavy is it .....

lynnie 04-21-2015 06:55 PM

the pointy end looks like a knife of sorts to me.

My thoughts too.

Jingle 04-22-2015 03:32 AM

I have no idea.

SunlitenSmiles 04-22-2015 03:42 AM

looks like you could use it to slice the packing tape on the boxes shipped from Amazon

My husband says it looks like a tubing bender. Used to bend brake line or copper tubing.

ManiacQuilter2 04-22-2015 05:50 AM

Very interesting. Never seen one before.

I think it might be a knife sharpener

Stitchit123 04-22-2015 07:35 AM

At first I thought it might be the handle to a vacuum sweeper. I bought a Sharp vac years ago and it came with 2 handles-one shaped like this and a round one. Nice option for a vac

It is a scissor sharpener you lay the blade of your scissors along the pointy end and pull so the roller does the sharpening.

Pam S 04-22-2015 07:59 AM

It is a wrapping paper cutter. It's upside down in the picture. The little wheels run along the table or other cutting surface and you push it along as the paper feeds through the blade area. I have one and it works great.

jamannix 04-22-2015 08:17 AM

my husband had no idea but then suggested it might be a grout cleaner...

fayeberry 04-22-2015 10:57 AM

It is a tool. You will discover what type as soon as you get rid of it.

Carol Wilson 04-22-2015 12:43 PM

I think it is a Whim Wham for a ducks backside?

This is what my Grandmother always told me if she did not know what something was for!

madamekelly 04-22-2015 01:29 PM

I believe that is a tool for cutting those obnoxious packages that electronics are in. The ones you have to cut off. Safer than a pocket knife to get them open.

Love this!

DebbieJJ 04-23-2015 12:25 AM

Why not try any and all of the above--and let us know what works??;)

ljs317 04-23-2015 04:01 AM

It looks like the handle of a pair of pinking shears or heavy duty scissors.

But I love the Whim Wham theory! So funny.

Quilty-Louise 04-23-2015 04:07 AM

That looks just like the red wrapping paper cutter I have (somewhere).

I bought mine from a school fund raiser one year from my youngest
daughter.

maryfrang 04-23-2015 04:09 AM

Take it to an old fashion hardware store. They might even have one in stock. Remember not the warehouse type of today, but the mom and pop type store, if they still have any in your area.

SingerSewer 04-23-2015 05:56 AM

I believe it is a paper cutter. I have something similar I use to cut wrapping paper.

garysgal 04-23-2015 08:38 AM

It looks like the plastic one I have. It's a paper cutter like Foxglove said.

After carefully looking at the picture, it is a tool for putting the spline (rubber fitting) around the edge of a window screen to hold it in the frame. Silly me!

P.S. grandpa always said everything was either "a turnip twaddler," or "a tomato bender!"! Lol!

Dawn Marie 04-23-2015 10:48 PM

It is for cutting wrapping paper
