Choose a color that you like - and makes you feel good. I would go for a very pale pastel shade of whatever - light colors also make the lighting more effective in the space.

My sewing room is painted bright lemon yellow. It's so light and cheerful and I love working in there.

This is not my room, but the color is just about spot on! Its a gray-ish,blue-green and I love it! Just painted my studio this color. (very similar)http://images.meredith.com/content/d...endition.p.jpg</SPAN></SPAN>

They say a very light cream color is good, but I love my dark chocolate brown guest room/sewing room. Everyone thought I was nuts, but all my friends love it now and so do the guests - not that it matters. Their were a few of us gals in there one day checking out the bags I was making and they started holding all the different colors up to the walls and to their surprise the dark brown is a neutral :-) It's fun to be different.

We painted my sewing room white ,the color is called Swiss Coffee. Don't go with an extreme white though. Use an off white or something with a slight tint of yellow or green. We haven't painted the "Annex" yet, I doubt we will. The walls in that room are a light Chocolate Milk color soothing but it can be a little dark in there.

P S The gray looks pretty - wondering if it is an actual neutral. I have gotten to like yellow with gray.

Mine is sunshine yellow, thought it was going to be lighter but I have to say I feel happy & energetic when I'm in there

Logically, brown might be good - isn't is supposed to be a blend of all three primary colors?

When I installed my 8ft. x 7ft. design wall in my cottage bedroom (there is not ONE single decent wall in my studio/living room!!), I discovered that the flannel purchased to cover the insulation foam boards was virtually the same color as the walls that were already there.

This has turned out to be a blessing because when the design wall is not in use, it literally 'disappears' due to the color. It's wonderful! The walls/board are a creamy white, very basic for allowing any decorating scheme and a peaceful sleep when there's nothing up there. (Otherwise I find myself staring at the blocks/quilt top half the night and muddling with them in my mind all night long!)

It sounds like a pastel is the color, now to decide which one.
