What did you Get for Christmas that made you laugh?

My 2 sons and DIL came out to help me wrap gifts and I had to run to town so the also cleaned the livingroom. Opening gifts to day there were several under the tree from Santa. Yea they wrapped me my box of CD's, my husband got a box of wood wrapped in paper-Fire starters- Also a couple things he had gotten as gifts from his boss were re wrapped and under the tree. They wanted to clean and did not know where to put things so they wrapped them! These kids are in their 20's so it was a funny Christmas.

Love it!!!

My husband has a steadily increasing hearing loss which he refused to acknowledge. He makes me repeat everything I say and it is getting quite annoying by now. "Santa" took pity on me and put a megaphone under the tree just for me! My husband didn't think it was very funny, but I have been using it every time he asks me to repeat things. Perhaps he will get tired of it and go for a hearing aid.

I am having fun.

LOL! Too funny about your kids idea of Christmas cleaning Donna!

Arlene, Love the megaphone! I've been hearing impaired since I was 26 or so, but the reality does sneak up on you. I can't tell you how many tea kettles I boiled dry and ruined before it finally sunk in. Perhaps your DH would consider looking into hearing aids if he knew he would be able to impress everyone with his. These are my favorite:

My boss gave me a countdown clock and it's set to countdown to HIS birthday! It was pretty funny.

I got a giant box of candy...I mean GIANT! It must be 18" X 24"! I always tease him about how he gets into my candy stash whenever he stops by, so he thought this would serve both of us. Of course between the 9 people over for the holiday, the supply has dwindled, but nothing's better than sharing with loved ones!

We have carried on the tradition of using the Sunday comics fro wrapping some of the gifts. As kids my parents did it to stretch the budget. This year even though we had extra wrapping paer each of the kids opted for at least one gift in comics- and they checked to make sure there was one for each of them wrapped in comics under the tree.

My boyfriend refuses to dress beyond a tshirt w/pockets so I got him several paper stick on ties! Yep, got him in a tie for Christmas - he loved it!

DH always wraps all the gifts. I just purchase or make them and supply him with boxes, bags, paper and name tags. When our two sons opened one of their gifts they each had one glove, not a pair. The boys did not say anything about it until the next day when they asked their dad why the one glove. Dad was not aware that he give them each one glove and thought they were pulling a joke on him - the boys thought it was very funny.

OOOh Arlene, I think I should get one too. My DH hearing is getting worst and worst, he acknowledges but hasn't done anything about it.

We chose to not exchange gifts this year at our house (just me, my daughter, and son-in-law) as we elected to give something to others in one form or another - food, clothing, donations, etc. But, we all received something funny. We went to the movies and ate buttered popcorn, drank pepsi and coke and laughed ourselves silly watching the new "Alvin and the Chipmunks." It was great. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we ate, laughed, and had a wonderfully stress-free Christmas. I loved it.

Some of the presents I wrap in colored ads. My son and DGC now save these ads and compare them to past ads from presents. These ads go into a box and each year we have fun looking at how things change. This year my DGS was jokeing and said that he wanted a bowl, plate and beans. Well I got him a bowl plate and a bag of pinto beans. He loved them. Hope all of you received what you wanted or needed. Hope all of you have a Happy,Healthy New Year. BrendaK

I got a wonderful gift/ First my youngest DD and SIL came by and took me to NC to visit somemore family there for the holiday and I got my own jewelry from them. I have a gold necklace with three crosses on it and a gold bracelet that have been in need of repair for over three years/ I had them put away but my kids found them and got them fixed for Christmas. They also took my mothers ring that was missing the stone for my oldest and the jeweler broke it so they will mail it later. It was a great gift/

We give out "brown bag gifts" every Christmas and birthday. The recipient is not allowed to return what is in the bag -- and they can contain anything. DH started this when the kids moved out as a way to get rid of VHS tapes that he no longer wanted, the contents then migrated to anything someone wanted to pass down. This year there were brown bags for everyone but me and DH and the 6 month old DGS. My 8 year old DGS got in the act -- he gave his 2 year old cousin a giant stuffed dog.

The windmill cookie tin.

At Thanksgiving my mother presented me with a tin of windmill cookies. She was just so pleased with herself that she'd found them. I said "but I hate windmill cookies" and she said that's what your sister said and I thought you both liked them. Uhhh, no we talked about them because we both hated them but ate them anyway. My daughter in law pipes up and says she'd take the cookies so I gave them to her. Then when she came for Christmas she wrapped the tin and filled it with candy cane fudge and she said I have to give it back to her next Christmas with something in it. I knew instantly when she handed it to me it was the windmill cookie tin and it cracked me right up.

Oh and DIL said windmill cookies really aren't very good. LOL

Up North,

I like this theme that You picked. it was interesting what some people will think of.

Laughter is always good. I don't laugh enough. I am going to start going to a " Laugh Yoga " next week.
I looked it up online and it is done in a church in the next town over.
IT IS on tuesday evenings. We take Ruthie to boston for her visits on Tuesdays so I hope that I am up for it by the time I get home.
I miss seeing You UP NORTH..at our our old hang out. I hope that I get used to this new BOARD setup soon

PEACE....ALICE

I had to laugh when I got three, yes THREE, cast iron cornbread pans for Christmas from my daughter and DH. I had asked my daughter for one, so she bought it. When she told her dad what she was giving me, he told her I really needed two of those. So, she went back and bought a second one. Then when he was out shopping he saw one and bought it too, thinking she might not get the second one. So I received all three for Christmas. That boy does like his cornbread!
