Well I actually learned this, this morning...Don't sew if your eyes are tired and the lighting is not good. Sewed strips for a four patch, one on the wrong side and then went on to cut them into 3 in. sections...didn't noticed until I was sewing them together this morning... to unsew or just cut another strip....I have enough fabric so just cut a strip, good thing it was just one strip..

Not very profound, but I learned, I would have been better off spending the $12.95 for a laser cut of this appliqué for the Row by Row I am working on

I learned that I get a headache fasting for bloodwork. Probably the lack of my one cup of coffee.

I learned that a ceramic tile floor can be removed using a hammer and chisel but it is dang hard on my back! Only 140 square feet to go and I will not be defeated!! But I'd rather be sewing. Sigh.

Today I learned that if I go the right hardware store, I can buy a single replacement faucet for the cold water in the upstairs shower - and - that it takes way less time to replace it than it does catching up on all the dirty dishes that piled up when I had to turn the water off for the house last night at 11:30.

Rhonda: That sounded like a great class.

Yesterday, I was reminded not to underestimate what 8th graders can figure out. I was hosting some middle schoolers for a service project and I wanted them to sort washcloth kits into girl, boy, and neutral piles and then fill the boy tub for the next time bundles are assembled. Bless their hearts if they didn't take it one step farther and fill up the girl and neutral tubs, also.

Today, I learned that I would definitely need a neighbor girl's leg measurement for her bridal garter. I was asked if I could make her one and I am definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. I asked a gal at my LQS if she made them when she made wedding dresses and, since she did, she confirmed I was on the right track. I combined her knowledge and an internet DIY and made a prototype for my neighbor to check out before I make the real one.

I learned that Fiskars is a high quality scissors. I purchase a sewing basket at a yard sale for $5. Inside was a Gingher scissors that I sent to be sharpened. Got a call that they were ready but could not tighten the screw be cause someone had already tried a home repair that didn't work. If I needed a good scissors Fiskars is a good quality & has been around for over 300 years. Possibly since the Industrial Revolution.

I learned that squished cake still tastes great. Last night we went to dd & sil for dinner. Unbekown to each other we each made plans for fruit and/or dessert. I bought a watermelon and dh baked his favorite chocolate cake. We put both into the car, the cake on the floor and the watermelon on the seat area. When he stopped on a steep downhill, the watermelon rolled on top of the cake. The cake looked like it had fallen from being undercooked. We served the good part last night. But since you can't waste a great chocolate cake, I tried it. More like a brownie, a really good brownie.

I learned that when bagging cans for Bottle Drop turn in tomorrow. Boko isn't much help, neither is Sandy. Both think I am out there to lavish pets on them.
