Hi! I bought a grab bag of black and white thin strips, some less than an inch pieces of fabric. What is the easiet way to sew them together to make blocks out of them?

I would just sew them together as strip sets with no real thin ones together if you can help it and then use it as if it were a piece of fabric. You could also do a QAYG block where you sew each strip to the batting with the backing already attached (or put strips on the back at the same time). Then when you're done, except for the binding-you're done!

Use adding machine paper as a foundation, and you can come up with this kind of quilt

Yep...foundation strippy style or the adding machine paper and if you throw in a dash of red (or an alternative bright) you will have a stunning result.

Did you do those on paper foundations? If so, how big did you cut your squares to start? I've done the string x quilt but want to do one like yours. thanks! |
