what does this mean? in reference to NEW board

I got the newsletter this morning and as usual right clicked on the topics I wanted to read and opened them in a NEW tab.
When I go to open that tab..say for instance the "goodbye friends" from NancyG...the page came up with a box that says "vBulletin message" and Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

what does that mean? where is the message....that happened to more than one of the topics I wanted to read!:hunf:

timepasser 11-03-2011 05:53 AM

I don't know but I have been getting that also

Amythyst02 11-03-2011 05:59 AM

I have been getting those messages as well. I kinda thought the mod's may have removed it, but not sure. I think these new boards have us all a bit confused...luckily they will become user friendly as we get accustomed to them...at least I hope so : )

phatquilts2 11-03-2011 06:02 AM

i have been receiving those same messages.

happymrs 11-03-2011 06:03 AM

Personally, I think it's ones they just don't want us to read, like the good-bye one, for example. I got the same thing here just now. I also click on recent messages & it takes you to the Home page, not most recent posts, so what good is it. Maybe they are still working out the kinks like this, but I can see why many just give up & move elsewhere, I am still debating. Time will tell, I guess...

QuiltNama 11-03-2011 06:04 AM

Not sure myself and it also keeps coming up for me. I must be out there in la la land.....

ka9sdn 11-03-2011 06:05 AM

I am getting that message with 50% of the topics that show. How do we get to the nice list we used to be able to pick from that we wanted to open. I don't have hours to sit and hunt for things.

katesnanna 11-03-2011 06:08 AM

It asked for you to notify admin. I just did that . Obviously it's something they are trying to fix.

Vicki W 11-03-2011 06:09 AM

I believe that may be the new terminlogy for "Deleted by the moderator"

Sunnye 11-03-2011 06:12 AM

I get that too. Yes, I believe it's been deleted by moderators.

I have been using the archive link at the bottom of the page to find topics more easily. Try and see if you prefer it.

quiltmau 11-03-2011 04:04 PM

I agree-as it seems to deal with the negative posts

kbs 11-03-2011 05:15 PM

Trying to get around in this new setup, but trying to read on this white background really bad, it makes my eyes hurt. Anyone else have this problem?

GreatStarter 11-03-2011 06:39 PM

I have been getting that this evening. Drove me nuts for a while.

GreatStarter 11-03-2011 06:40 PM

And yes I couldn't figure out why my eyes were bothering me so today when I got on the computer. The backround is glaringly white. Thank you for mentioning that.

Kat

Charlee 11-03-2011 06:41 PM

Not necessarily...I've gotten that message, clicked to refresh my browser and the message comes up. I think it's just one of the minor bugs...

Me too! I've been getting that message too. I too miss the list of subjects that we can pick from instead of just 4 to 6 subjects most of which are the same as yesterday.

Elisabeth J 11-04-2011 06:01 AM

I agree, they have taken our choices from us. I don't like having to open every single topic just to find I'm not interested in the subject.

Honeynga 11-04-2011 08:59 AM

I get that same message also but am so disgusted and disappointed I just ignore the whole thing...my enthusiasm (sp?) has been taken away. I'm tired of trying to figure out how the new system works...OR doesn't work.

Not only do my eyes hurt, but all this white gives ne a headache. It's like being out in the snow all day & then coming inside. Snow blindness. This is going to be a BIG problem for me. Maybe I'll start selling sunglasses.

It didn't bother me at first but the longer I'm here, I'm also noticing that it irritates my eyes and giving me a headache. Somewhere here there were directions on how to change the colors yourself but it didn't work for me.

I'm hoping that 'they' will be reading some of these and change to a more muted hue ... for instance the color of the strip where the 'reply, reply with quote might work good and then use blues where the tan/greenish area is?

ArtsyOne 11-04-2011 09:21 AM

I'm having a heck of a time too. What's the difference between things for sale and garage sale? "Classifieds" was just so much easier and it was the first place I went when I came to the site. What happened to the "photos" section? They were just so inspirational. Maybe everything's still here, but it's not easy to find at all.

fayzer 11-04-2011 09:25 AM

try this .............go to bottom of page, you will see a default button-click and select mobile style. This will almost look like the old board. To see menu just click on top left side on Quiltingboard.
You can read and post on this format and anytime you want to go to the regular forum just hit Full Screen on bottom of page
Best thing, colors are so much better in this format.

Up there just above the line with the thread topic, see the word "Forum"? Click on it. A page comes up with a more familiar list of areas like pictures, recipes, general chit chat, etc. Took me 3 days to accidentally click on it, but thar it is! Dunno whether to laugh or cry.

Sheila_H 11-04-2011 12:46 PM

I get that error and a few others too I figure it's just a glitch in the new system. I can get on the board with no problems just certain links don't work

noveltyjunkie 11-04-2011 01:06 PM

I assumed the posts had been deleted too. Sounds like a lot of deleting!
I'm just looking at the messages that are easy to find. I have an unpleasant feeling all the time that I am missing out on other stuff.

Go to the bottom left corner of the page, to the "default"viewing ..drop down menu and pick the mobile viewing..it helps..colors are different.

Amythyst02 11-05-2011 03:41 AM

I am noticing this morning that the color has changed a bit, it is not nearly as bright a white as it was. It does seem a bit softer, and easier on the eyes.

As for the deleted posts by the moderators if that is the reason we are seeing the messages, then I guess the only thing I can say, is some folks want to say farewell to these boards. They should be able to do that. Deleting the messages does send out a bad message in my opinion. Folks are either going to struggle for a bit and get used to the boards, or they will leave, and probably come back : ) There are threads with oodles of complaints, and there are threads with compliments on the new boards. Everyone is going to have their own opinions.

Deleting is not going to change anyones minds on whether to stay or go. I am staying, because I have learned that there are no better forums than these. I have learned that the folks here really do care, and will try to help you as much as they can. I am struggling just like everyone else, but...each day I figure out a bit more, and in my opinion they have tried to make things better for us by changing the background (thank goodness) and the font is much larger now and easier to read.

The biggest majority of us will stay and struggle through, and each of us will help each other. Cause that is what we do here : )

NUTMEG10 11-05-2011 04:06 AM

I can't say this change has been a easy to navigate . I find it has to many tabs and options that half do not mean anything to me. I look for only current post for the day and if I select Links it gives me everything and in no date order.
I find it frustrating to get around and takes to much time. As it was I could spend 2 hours looking at current things and now 4 hours later I am still trying to figure how to get around.

Thanks for that suggestion. I had thought it might be posted in a wrong spot and was moved to where it belonged and I would find it when I got there!

tumrub 11-06-2011 04:14 PM

I ask patrice this because it happened to me also. She said that they are closed down because of not so nice things being said.
