I agree with what you said, some in every crowd.

I like to think she meant it as she liked whatever it was and thought it should be hung up. I've heard that saying many times.

I have been around a long time and this phrase has always been one of a complement, to show something off, display or share in some way.

It seems there are two sides to every coin.

Please continue to enjoy your treasure hunting. It is one of my passions too and I don't really care if any of my friends don't like that I do it and some of them will not have any used items in their home, "because they might be haunted." LOL, really!!!

Have fun.

that sounds like something I would say. I don't refer to something as a "puppy" unless I'm quite impressed with it, so to say "hang that puppy up" would mean I really like it and think it should be put in a place others can see it.

Though I could also see someone saying it sarcastically - like "hang that puppy up" (because there is no way that I'd ever put it in my house).

I do not mean to be a smart... and hope I am not taken as such but, I really wouldn't give it much thought . I would just blow it off and go to the next sale hoping I find a treasure at a bargain price.

She may be implying, since you used the words "nice treasures" to put an end to these treasures being open for sale by buying them, so "hang that puppy up" meaning close the deal, buy it.
