After dinner went to check my calendar to make sure I knew where my next small group's meeting was and then I got busy in the kitchen. Phone rang a little after 8 pm, it was one of the gals from my group, me - "What's Up", her - "Are you going to join us at tonight's meeting?" What a dummy I checked where it was but it didn't register that it was TONIGHT. By the time I would have changed my clothes, got my stuff for the meeting together and drove there the meeting would be breaking up. Really wanted to attend this meeting as one of the gals is moving away and I wanted to say GoodBye to her.

littlehud 07-12-2011 06:00 PM

How frustrating but it sounds like something I would do too.

crafty_linda_b 07-12-2011 09:17 PM

Ahh May..I 'think' this is what happens when we get OLD...notice I said 'think' that's because it happens to me alot more lately than it used to..bummer you missed your meeting...crafty_linda_b

normasews 07-12-2011 09:30 PM

Don't feel bad, we've all done it!

Jammin' Jane 07-12-2011 11:23 PM

Things happen for a reason.
Arrange some alone time with your friend before she moves.

meemersmom 07-12-2011 11:35 PM

My specialty "dummy" move is to get all ready for the meeting (or whatever event it is), then sit on the couch for a couple of minutes before its time to go. Can't tell you how many times I've fallen asleep and missed things!!

alleyoop1 07-13-2011 03:16 AM

That is why I write things like this on the calendar hanging on my refrigerator - and sometimes I still forget!!!! :)

thenonnielady 07-13-2011 03:40 AM

I thought this week was next week, and was ready to go to a meeting.......fortunately a phone call on an unrelated project saved me an hour's travel time. sigh

GladGrams 07-13-2011 04:46 AM

The bright side - at least the meeting wasn't at your house.

Yes I'm glad that it wasn't. Wouldn't that have been something? The other members really would think I needed a caretaker.

amandasgramma 07-13-2011 05:17 AM

I've done that in reverse.....went to a meeting that wasn't scheduled for another week!!!!

Lady Diana 07-13-2011 05:41 AM

Take your friend a gift bag of fat quarters and say your goodbye....we are all in the same mind set these days.
Too much going on, too much to do. Take care

sounds like an excuse for a special lunch with your friend.....

Kkimberlee 07-13-2011 05:43 AM

To funny... I keep missing class because of my babies. Each time I think maybe I can go this week the 6 month-old decides to not like daddy again, LOL!

eimay 07-13-2011 09:14 AM

Just did the same thing with a book group.UGH.

Lv2sew2011 07-13-2011 09:20 AM

I call it early Old Timers Disease, I do it all the time..

JudieRQuilting 07-13-2011 09:44 AM

I can totally relate to your confusion. I can't keep track of days or times, especially when it is important to do so.

jojosnana 07-13-2011 10:00 AM

Just a case of doing too much

Quilter672 07-13-2011 10:05 AM

Funny May! I did the same thing last night...busy fussing around and the phone rang...noticed on the caller ID the call was from a friend's cell phone. I wondered why she was calling me from her cell phone! Duh, she was calling from the meeting place to see where I was! And to make sure I was ok! Nice of her but I sure was mad at myself!

May, You're not a dummy it sounds like maybe you've been so busy making charity quilts that you're on overload. Since you won't forgive you I will and send a great big {{{{HUG}}}} from a sister in quilts who knows what it's like to get lost in time some days.

:D :D

lynda1945 07-13-2011 01:48 PM

Before she leaves meet her for lunch. Explain what happened and I'm sure she'll understand - most likely she's done something like that too!

lovelyl 07-13-2011 03:06 PM

At least you didn'f fall asleep in your chair waiting for time to leave for the guild meeting and wake up when it was about over like I did! Blush...

Teresa 54 07-13-2011 04:50 PM
