What else do you call small felines other than "cats"?
My family used to call all cats by silly names -
feedy-ootses - felinis -poody-tats - Did you - or anyone you know - call cats or kittens something other than cats or kittens? (I am only looking for "affectionate" names here. My DH was not/is not fond of cats - don't want those kinds of names here.) |
My youngest son (he was 4 at the time) used to say......Ki-ki when searching the house for his cat.
Around here Kola the cat answers to "puppy" |
puss-puss ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
we call our Zoey.....little girl. shes so cute and affectionate
Our outdoor cat Annie will come when I call her name, call out Annie girl or call chick-chick-chick for the chickens. She will not come if I call out here kitty-kitty-kitty.
A small cat I call kitty. I taught all of my kittens/cats to come when I whistle, much easier then calling their name.
Jim calls anything that is fuzzy and cute a jub. I call them kitties, or fuzzy face, and sometimes "the kids". Smoky I will very often call "Mama", because is the mother to the other three. We are Mommy and Daddy to four cats and a dog.
Sometimes all I have to say is "Who wants a snack"? That gets everybody in the kitchen at once. |
I call mine Boo Bear, or Boo Berry.
I call them Little Greeters, Little Friends, or Little Visitors when speaking about them.
I just call out "floor shot" or OOOPS..... they all come Running! Lol
They have also been called
"meow-meows" "spoodies" "cat" |
When we got Boots he was just a little kitten and naturally got into everything. I'd yell "Boots, you little heathen", and he still will answer to "little heathen":)
Puss, Pussy Cat, Scout, pspspspspspspsps (just a sound that brings the kitty running)

Love that name. lol |
Mr. Peach answers best to the sound of a can being opened but he comes to Peachie, Peach fuzz and sweet pea.
Kit Kat, Monster, Fuzzy pants, "Your cat", Rug Rats, the herd, Girls, Sissy.
I call Molly " my little ball of fur"
My girl cat is - Diamond she is black with a white mark on her chest , my boy cat is Charlie
and they know there name when we call them. |
We call ours fuzz butt or Mr. Stink because of the cat box. He is 13 and has never been outside, we scoop twice a day so that earned him the Mr. Stink name.
"your majesty" and "royal Highness" seem to get used a lot as they can be so demanding and want things on their terms.
DH does love our resident beasties but sometimes his terms of endearment are not very endearing. Like "big pain in my ***" LOL |
Mama Puss, Pusskins, Bobbin, Little Pisser, Goop Goop and Dumaflache!
Each individual cat gets a ton of nicknames, but for cats in general... (aside from those I've seen listed...)
Nice names: Mauser, Moggie, Kik-a-now, Meekie, Kit-kit-kit Less flattering: Little Puker, Litterfeet, Troublesome Joe I also like to refer to them as "couch panthers" or "house lions" but that's not something I call them directly. |
When I was young my neighbors from Quebec called cats me-new. I spelled it phonetically. Tell you the truth, I don't know any other way to spell it. French for cat is chat. So I don't know where the word came from. My last cat Sadie was called sadistic kitty because she was. :) We loved her even though she was really rather nasty as she aged.
When my son was just learning to talk, he couldn't make an 'm' sound, so he called his kitty Neow (instead of meow).
I always liked the Scottish? (UK) term " Moggie". Dont know why they call them that.
Kitty Kitty.
Titty Tat. My mom used to call them "Sh*tty Chat". She thought that was so funny, and yes she did love her cats. I call my old plump kitty my "fatty football" because that's what she feels like when I'm carrying her under my arm, a football.
I just thought of another name I call my kitty, Miss Pointy Paws! I use that term when she walks across my chest. It is as if she had pointed feet. Other times she can walk across me with flat feet that does not hurt at all. Miss Pointy Paws is a dear little thing but gets her "point" across...."feed me, fill the water dish or open the blinds so I can watch the birds, please."
Right now we have Skipper and Checkers. When we had two that we got about Christmas time they were Cotton (white long hair) and Candy (calico). We have had a Bibbs (white bib under chin) and Smokey (gray tuxedo) and Cindy 4 legs (given to my daughter by Cindy 2 legs) and when my son was small and had limited words his cat was KeeCock. There has also been a Tigger, Spot, Marshmellow (all black) and Mit Mit (white fromt paws). Everybody at our house gets its own name and come when called or we come when summonsed.
We once called one of our cats "Misery" because she was part Siamese and had an awful meow. My daughter gives her cats place names like "Sanibell for the island, etc.
Little Kitty (our adopted stray), our black kitty we call BooBoo
One of ours I refer to as "our 17# of black cat fat", scaredy cat, Princess, DivaButt, Pretty Girl, teenies
We have a brother and a sister pair. He is about 50% larger (12# vs. 8#). She is so small, I changed her name from "Ladybug" to "Little Bit." My DH calls our male (real name: Tigger), "Door Stop" (he loves to lie in the doorway) or Tech Support (when he hangs around the computer while DH is working on it).

Usually only Princess or Your Highness is good enough for our fur baby. But sometimes we call her the Cat Bird
There is something about cats that implies that they think they are royalty - - -
my Maine coon that passed was officially, Mr. Xanadu the charming grimmle kin.
grimmel kin is olde English for cat. When he was a baby, he had 'stuff' on him from the litter box. so I cut his pants off. It earned him the name, 'stinky pants' or Stinks. I still get mail to my email addressed to Mr Stinky, for male enhancements, because of the MR part in my e-mail. |

husband's side of the family is scottish--cats there are "moggies", and here, that's been the cat name for some of them. we had one cat named "little nuisance", because he moved in on us, and wouldn't consent to being an inside cat, ever. when he met his demise, his replacement was a perfect doppleganger except for a little white mustache, so he became "little nuisance, too", who became "LiNT". LiNT was our loving kitty for 20 years. their predecessor was the "cat of evil", and officially named "kittywampus".
