What is a good price?

What is a good price for an older "2001" Elna 6000, Swiss Made sewing machine. I did go to Ebay to see the range of prices. The machine hasn't been used since 2005 and has all the accessories...is in excellent condition. Of course, it does not have the needle down or thread cutter as those came later.

you're right prices vary so much. Will you ship it and include the shipping. Things to think about. I'm sure others will be advising shortly. Anxious to see other comments. Condition and operational functions make a big difference.

The machine was a one owner machine....me.....and it was in excellent shape. I bought it in 2001 and gave it to my daughter in 2005. She never got around to using it so it is still in excellent condition and has all the accessories that came with it plus a few more. Since she lives in Orange, I doubt she will be needing to ship it.

It would be a good idea to take the machine in for servicing to make sure that all of the lubrication is still good and in place, and that everything on it still works as it should. Sitting unused for a long period of time can create problems in a machine.

My uneducated guess, based on what info I was able to scrounge from some internet searches, is that a good price for this machine would be around $300 with a range of about $200 to $400 tops. A lot of the older computerized machines are not valued highly because it can be expensive (or impossible) to replace a motherboard if it goes out.

Was this Elna from around the time it was being made by someone else (and not from Tavaro - "Swiss")?? I have the Elna Carina that is not computerized (1980's), and it will never die! But I also have the computer #8000, and it's a piece of junk. I've spent more on repairs than it's cost! and it still won't sew a good stitch. The older models from the original maker are def the best. Your price? I pd $385 for the 8000 from ebay about 4 yrs ago--my loss...it just sits here in a closet. I should part it out, huh?

mermaid. I bought this Elna from a reputable sewing machine store so I think it's a "real" Swiss made Elna. It was a year or so after I got this that Elna went through transitions.......
