I've used them at the cabin ... leave them outside during the day and bring them in at night for night lights.

OMG - fabulous idea!!! We were without power for 11 days due to an ice storm in "07 - was so afraid of our candles and kerosene lamps. Going to buy some solar lamps tomorrow and just store them with the rest of our emergency stuff.

Now that is certainly using the ole noggin. What a great and cool idea.

We've used solar lights when the power was off after a hurricane or storm and they work pretty darn good. Much better than sitting in the dark.

QVC sells lanterns which use solar energy. Very cute and looked reliable.

How clever! I'll remember that!

You can separate the post from the light itself on some of the solar lights and stick the top light part into a pint mason jar or jelly jar or peanut butter jar. I'm trying to find some plastic jars that I can hot glue the light part onto so my grandkids can have rechargeable night lights. Found this on pinterest. Great idea.
