What have you done about the threat Heartbleed ??
 

I had heard it on the news but I keep a low profile. This is the only site I literally hang out on. My friend changed her Pinterest and another internet site. Have you done anything to avoid this threat???

I haven't done anything either. The sites that have any financial info on me are secure.

I was on another forum that I had never used the PM option in, but did it and then couldn't read the reply because I had to download something in order to read PM's. Not happening. I finally emailed the Hostess and she emailed me back. Old but works. Other than that, not much.

I have changed my password for online banking. That is all.

Will change my password on two sites that were possibly comprised (that I use) Pinterest and Facebook.

Other times this sort of thing is on radio news every hour and nothing happens. Companies and banks using the internet have very good security. I doubt anything becomes of it.

I don't do any financial stuff on line, just keep track of my quilts, emails, pictures and so I don't worry about it at all.
I don't think I would ever do any banking stuff on line Heartblood or not! To me the computer just wouldn't be any fun anymore. It is easier for me to keep track of the quilts I have made, the little books I have written for the quilts and pictures of the quilts. And emails to my family and friends. I don't need a computer for anything else. Excuse me, I do use it for finding out information like "Swedish Cactus" - and here I thought it was going to be a description of a plant I have - au contraire!!!! Edie

There they were, telling us if the url address had the "s" at the end the site was secure. Now it turns out just the opposite! Who can you trust? :p

My computer is for entertainment purposes only. I never put my info. on here - I don't bank or pay bills or even shop on line. So I don't worry about these things. Worrying causes worry lines and if I have to get them then I will choose more important things to worry about -like how low am I getting on batting.

My virus protection gives me an alert if a site may be infected with the heartbleed bug. As long as I don't have any financial info on them or use the same password for personal sites, no problem.

Nothing. I was told to wait until I was notified by someone I do business with that they had been hit and then change my password for them. I do no banking or bill paying on line or use my credit cards on line. We just do not trust putting our info. on line.

where has that alert been for two years?

In these days and times of sophisticated digital theft, nothing is absolutely positively 100% secure. We mustn't kid ourselves. Pay Pal tells us they are secure, but all of our info was stolen from them two years ago and someone had a wonderful time shopping all over Europe and Asia to the tune of several thousand dollars on my credit info. Thank goodness, our bank notified us immediately and we cancelled the card, but the threat is ALWAYS there. When theft knowledge and devices are invented faster than virus protection can be written, we must never fool ourselves into thinking we are safe. We are not and never will be. This will be an ongoing problem with more and more credit card/debit card use and technology. It's just going to become more and more sophisticated.

I don't do Facebook or Twitter. Never do any banking or bill paying online. Guess I just don't trust much anymore.

Just to be on the safe side I changed my yahoo, google and fb passwords. I think it is going to get to the place where it won't make any difference if we change our passwords, someone is going to figure out how to hack all accounts

The virus alert comes with Chrome Browser it is called Chromebleed1.1.1Displays a warning if the site you are browsing is affected by the Heartbleed bug

A news program said for the last two years, NSA has been using that portal to collect private information from our computers. I reckon after two years, they finally decided to let us in on the "problem."

You can go to here to enter websites that you use. It will tell you if it is or was affected.

Come on now!!! If they can get into the White House, the Military, etc. why would anyone believe ANY site that claimed to be secure????? Wake up!

I changed my passwords ut that is about all we can do.

I use lastpass and they are keeping people informed about which sites and when to change passwords. On some sites the issue hasn't been fixed so to change passwords too early won't do any good. I just run a new security check every few days there (at lastpass) and it updates me on what still needs to be changed.

eta: any sites with sensitive info should probably still have passwords changed but keeping in mind you may need to again when they resolve the issue.
