What I have been doing with my 1 1/2 inch scrap strips

Locker hooking - I am been working on this after work - just a row or two -I love using strips that I would normally get rid of. I am hoping to finish it in the next few weeks. I will use it for a rug in front of the stove.

Very cool....another thing I want to try

That looks very pretty and a great way to use up the small scraps.
how in the world is that done........looks interesting.....

I love it! Must dig out that latch-hooking kit I bought 35 years ago and never got around to. Thanks for the idea.

Its really easy the latch hook needles are like 3.00 and the backing you use is only 3.99 at Ben Franklins. Joanne's also sells it but for double the price. Guess you can use a coupon and get it for the same as Ben Franklins. There are a few really good video out there. I also have been cutting up old wool coats that I will make a rug from. I love using the cotton left overs since I would otherwise not use it. It does take a lot of strips.

My husband loves the feel of the rug under his feet and has asked if I can make him insoles for his shoes. LOL...I just may try to do that.
Good for you to find another use for the 1-1/2" strips. I will use mine in a scrappy quilt, one of these days.
You can use 1 inch to. Wool, Cotton, felt or just about any thing...the thicker the fabric the more narrow the strips. I finished and now I am doing the binding. I am using all wool for the binding...it is looking really nice. So glad I am almost done. I did not interlock my strips this time instead I will sew them down in the back and then attack burlap and then use 3M rug tape to keep it from moving on the floor.

Love your rug! Very pretty.

Nice rug. I've took a class, so I have a rug in progress.....somewhere......
Thanks Becky...My friend came over to cut up some wool coats and gave me what she was going to throw out and I use the wool for the binding. Just enough...Love how it came out.
great idea. I have to try it as I have a trash bag full of scraps
Very nice! I bought the stuff to try this - about 3 years ago at a quilt show but I've never gotten around to doing it. Your post makes me want to get my supplies out. But first, I have to finish my Christmas gifts.

Great idea ! A colorful addition to the kitchen. :0)

WOW!! That is one awsome rug. Looks very cozy. Thanks for sharing.
What a great idea. It is going to be a durable rug. Good idea for using us strips.
How did you finish the edges? I love the rug. Will be doing one.
I used thin wool strips maybe 1/4 strip. I left 3 grid strip open (no cotton strips) then used mt needele and not string and just went in the first hole and out the third and just kept going. I did not sew the strip on this rug or lock the strips....it was easier not to. I will sew a few in the back, maybe...they are really in there and shouldn't come out of the holes since the thread locks them. I will sew on burlap on the back of the rug, but you really do not need to. If you feel others will pick it up as everyone has been doing...then you may want to just to make it look finished. The rug is so soft and very comfortable. My husband wants me to make a big one 9 x 10...no way...that is just too big. You will love your rug. I never gave it a though on color or prints I just used anything.
