I used to buy Singers ( from early 70's to early 90's), but the last one I purchased was terrible. Since then I have purchased Brother machines, both the top of the line and the ones from Walmart for the grandkids to use. Love the Brother machines!

Wanted to put a post on here re Janome Memory Craft 6000 because a friend gave hers to her daughter -now she woukd like it back . I'm not familiar with it features so was going to web when I decided to read first.
Maybe someone would tell me their opinion of the machine since we discuss it often. Told her to trade girl with older machine. I would choose a Brother . |
I love my Brother. do NOT get a new Singer.

Before I bought the better machine I have now, I had a Sears machine and was happy with it except it didn't have stitches I wanted on it. It was a sturdy machine, and never really gave me trouble
If I had to choose between a Brother and Singer, I would pick a Brother. Singers unless they are older, are not a machine I would recommend to anyone. |
i got me the brother cs6000i its a really good machine as a secondary my bigger one is the brother innovis 4000D love brother wwould never by a singer again

Well, it looks like I'm going to be the only to say that I have a new Singer Confidence Stylist, and so far, it is working great, and I love it!
|
Just asking--If you had a top of the line Viking, why are you looking for another sewing machine? Just asking.

Brother all the way

Fully agree with Jennifer 22206. Do NOT get a new Singer, they are only plastic. I love my Brother and my older Pfaff. Get a mechanical one without a computer. Not only are they better and last longer, they are cheaper to repair. Get one that is all metal - may be heavier, but well worth it.

If you have a machine dealer you like and trust,I'd look into a trade-in.
As you know the sturdiness of the equipment makes sewing lots more fun. |
You would be amazed at the condition of some of the machines found on Craig's List!
|
I would get the Brother. Have bought 2 from Walmart and never had any trouble
