A critter has already been snacking on the pumpkin on my front porch. He didn't make it to the center, though. I think it was a squirrel.

Put it in your compost pile.

I am going to cook one, freeze it, and give a little to my Poodle each day. It is very good for dogs, and my Molly loves it!

The squirrels here munch right through them to eat the seeds. It's the funniest thing to see the bushy tail sticking up while the whole animal is in the pumpkin. Sometimes, on the bigger pumpkins, the get the whole body in and poke a head up now and again to see if it's still safe. After they get all the seeds, I smash them in the veggie garden and they enjoy the flesh. Yes, you can make soup, or roast the flesh, but after a squirrel has been at it, who would want to? Besides, every being has a right to eat!

it doesn't give them diarrhea? my sons dog was constipated, and we gave him solid pack pumpkin to help loosen his stools. good idea though! peel, chunk and boil it?

Somebody in my neighborhood is collecting them for her compost pile.....I don't know much about compost but since pumpkins rot, it would work. Right? I like the idea of giving them to the animals as a treat too.
