I am so grateful that I can pick up any instruction and do that project with no problem. As long as there is an instruction, I can do it.

After many conversations with students and friends, I discovered that there are a lot of people that can read but don't understand, no matter what.

For years, I thought this was just ridiculous and figured that people just didn't want to take the time and didn't have patience and didn't want to do the project bad enough. I was so wrong lol.

Conversation between Friend and I: what do you mean you don't understand...it says chain three, do chain three, it says put the hook in the third chain, how easy it that?..put the hook in the third chain and pull the yarn through...Friend: oh now I understand, you showed me.

It took me a long time to realize this phenomenon.

I'm grateful for so many things it would be hard to list them all. My relationship with God is first, my family, being able to be retired, my family that I grew up with, my childhood being so ideal, the people on this board, my home etc.

Learning styles. I do best when I see it done rather than read the instructions. My hubby HAS to do it himself to figure it out. So thing that come with printed instructions are not very good for either of us. Thank Goodness for Youtube!

BTW, I am also grateful for many things. One being that I am smart enough to buy lots of extra fabric for a project so when I read the instructions and mess it up the first three or four times before I "get it" that I have enough to actually do the project.

I TOTALLY messed up my Bali Wedding Star by following the printed instructions. IF I had seen what she was talking about I would have never screwed up 288 blocks!

I am thankful to God for caring for me and my family, For still have my parents, My grandchildren and the ability to to almost any craft I can find. Being able to teach others whatever I do.

I guess the things I am most greafeful for are the most fragile in my life. My health, such as it is, my eyesight, legally blind w/o glasses, but 20 20 with. My family, estranged from daughter, but she will come back to the fold. My home and pets. My country and the opportunity to serve it when I was younger and better lookin'!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm a retired teacher & I can't count the times I have had to help - especially males - do something because they cannot read instructions. I guess that is why some people can't cook, etc. I make good use of 800 no.'s when something needs fixed. I taught sewing for a while & the constant question I would ask is "what does the next step say". I wanted them to be able to do things on their own.

Some people read and do.
Some people see and do.
Some people hear and do.
Some people are great teachers.
Every one is different and thats what makes us all special, not better or worse than others.
What a boring world this would be if every one was just like every one else.

I am grateful for my DH. :D He is far from perfect but he is a kind man with a good sense of humor. He supports me in everything I do. He is willing to stop whatever he is doing and rub my back. He is a good father and grandfather.He doesn't complain when I don't want to cook or if I sew all day.
He can drive me nuts sometimes, but I would be lost without him!

I am grateful for my Lord and Savior and what He did when he died for me. I am grateful for my Husband and children and parents and brothers and even the in-laws. I am grateful to have stood by my husband, daughter and son as they serve(d) our country. I am grateful for all the beautiful creation I see around me and all the wonderful creatures that He has made. I am grateful for my home and the ability to make the mortgage payments and put food on the table and fabric in my sewing room. I am grateful for all my friends, especially the quilting ones and that I can quilt!
