It is near Thanksgiving time, it's traditional to count our blessings and think about what and who we're grateful for. It could be something big like good health, a happy home, loving friends and family, or the sacrifices of our troops overseas. Or you could be thankful for the small things: a puppy's wet nose, a bright blue sky, a good book, or a hot cup of coffee. Maybe you're thinking of someone who's had a big impact on your life, like a teacher, clergy member, or childhood buddy. You may even be grateful for the stranger who held the door open for you or let you go ahead of him in the supermarket checkout line.

Why don't we all take a moment and post the the things we are thankful for.

Me I am thankful for these things:

My 37 years I have had with my DH. Now not all those times have been wonderful, as in every marriage they have had there ups and downs, but I am thankful for those times and hope I have many more ahead with him.

My two wonderful sons, who again have not always been perfect, but have made me proud.

A good job, which sometimes I grouse about....but hey I have one.

A warm house, and plenty of food.

A loving extended family.

Good friends.....2 legged and 4 legged.

And best of all..............ALL of you.

I'm thankful that I can get up & do "most" of what I want to do each day at age 67 & can afford to pay all my bill on time while living in a nice warm house.

I am thankful that I was born into a situation where I had the opportunity to build a good life for myself. So very many people, and many girls in particular, are not.

DH beside me for 35 years. Health. 2 beautiful daughters. 2 wonderful sons-in-law. The 4 most beautiful, wonderful, brilliant, granddaughters in the whole wide world. OK, so I'm just a little prejudiced but we think they are pretty wonderful.

I'm thankful for the time to work on quilts and enjoy this Quilting Board. I am thankful for my Family, friends and my Church home. The list is too long to write. Thank you LORD for each day I have.

Lynnejean 11-13-2010 05:53 AM

I am thankful for the 50 yrs I have had on this earth to experience all that it means to be human. The good and bad alike I treasure. Each experience is like a hard candy some sweet some sour that should be sucked and savored until there is no more.

pojo 11-13-2010 05:58 AM

My health, husband, two boys and my Buster. My sister and Dad.
All of you people on this board too.

cjomomma 11-13-2010 06:06 AM

It's hard to pin what all I am thankful for. I have a wonderful husband and children that I am very thankful for. Extremely thankful that we have food and a roof over our heads because there was a time when we almost didn't have those. I would go without eating so that my kids would have food while DH was working his butt off trying to support us.

sueisallaboutquilts 11-13-2010 06:19 AM

Such a good topic. So many times we are focused on what we don't have!
First and foremost I am grateful that I was sent from the " stork" (hee hee )to loving parents who gave me the best start they could. I know that's not a given.
I am married to my original husband and we have 3 wonderful sons. Great family, my health, all of life's necessities and some non-necessities.
My furbabies, and most definitely this board. I am so grateful to Konstantin for starting this.
Thank you all for being who you are. :)

KathyAire 11-13-2010 06:29 AM

I thank God that He sent His Son to die for my salvation.
I'm also thankful for my health.

Ditter43 11-13-2010 07:28 AM

The list is too long to write it all out here. I am thankful for many of the same things all of you have said. Life gives us lemons and chocolate. It's up to us to enjoy them both!!
I am thankful for the friendships here, they mean a lot in my life.
I am especially thankful that after bad marriages I was willing to take the chance again. This last time I hit the jackpot!!!

Aw, for so many things......Right now, I am Thankful to the Dentist who fixed up my mouth this week! I was in horrible pain, and put it off, and she got me right in. That first shot of novacane was HEAVEN!!!!!!!! Can actually swallow coffee today with out whining!!!!!!!!
My family, kids, BF and his loving family....we've been together 10 years, so they are my family too........my very messy home, that I can afford to have so many pets.....even my minimum wage job, lol, because I could have NO JOB!
The friends I have made here, that put up with my bad spelling, and messy posts, I TOTALLY miss you all when I can get online for some reason or another! Its so funny to really care so much about people youve never got to meet, but you really do!

Aunt Retta 11-13-2010 08:08 AM

I am grateful for my family. My life style is kinda different due to my kidney disease and my famliy is great at understanding.
My few good friends that have worked at trying to understand about my lifestyle.
My home here with my Mom, who has been supportive and always ready to help whenever I need it.
My dog who loves me no matter what.
My ability to sew and do crafts.
My daughter and grandsons, and another daughter.
My computer and this board-I have learned so much!

annyroony2 11-13-2010 10:52 AM

Like everyone else I am thankful for all the material things that I have, but I am most thankful for my wonderful DH of 48 years. Without him life would not be worth living. We have four dear children and 9 grandkids and are expecting our first great grandchild in January.

AtHomeSewing 11-13-2010 11:24 AM

For a husband with whom I've shared 29 years and who is so good to me.
For a daughter who is happy and successful.
For a wonderful home.
For a houseful of pets who are all characters.
For my friends.
And so much more.

Navy Wife 11-13-2010 12:38 PM

For my beloved husband who has put up with me for 55 years. For health, and the ability to do most things I want to do even at age 73. For 3 kids who moved every 2 or 3 years to follow Dad as the Navy moved us all over the world, and didn't complain but looked forward to each new place. For their successes in life and the failures that have made them strong. For 4 grandchildren and their spouses. No great grands yet, but I'm in no hurry and they aren't either! For the comfort of friends and the beauty of God's world, especially the Smoky Mountains outside my window. Life is good! Thank you Lord.

laurac 11-13-2010 12:52 PM

Gramof6 11-13-2010 11:20 PM

I am like all of you & have so many things I am thankful for that I cannot post them all. I am very thankful to wake up each day and get to experience whatever happens. I'm thankful that I survived a heart attack 5 yrs ago. Like Ditter said, we have Chocolate & Lemons & it is up to us as to what we make with them. I am also very thankful for my DH of 32 yrs.(3rd DH) He is a keeper. Also for my 4 kids and 6 grands & their good health. I am not a materialistic person & it really takes so very little to make me happy & content. And I am very thankful that I found this Board & the friends I have made here. I am really blessed.

I am thankful for my hubby, whom, without his hard work and dedication to family we wouldn't have what we have today. For my parents that are always at the other end of the phone at any given day or time, my brothers and sister and my family's good health. Great friends, roof over our head, food on the table, bills paid, and wonderful friends on this board who know when to give a pat on the back, give a hand, lend a shoulder and bend an ear when we need it..

wanna be quilter 11-14-2010 02:15 AM

I have so much to be thankful for, after living in four different countries, I am thankful to be retired with my hubby of 44 years in the beautiful Vale of Glamorganshire, South Wales UK, and to be near to our two sons and 4 g.kids, 3 of whom our youngest son and DIL have just recently adopted, we are truly blessed and thankful that they have got the family they wanted for so long. I am also thankful for my good health, when so many others are not so fortunate, and all the good things God bestows on us every day and being able to sleep peacefully every night, knowing that I am ready for an even better place with The Lord, through his precious blood. God is good !!

I am thankful for everything even the things that were not what I desired but helped to make me stronger and wiser.

Edie 11-14-2010 04:11 AM

I am thankful for my 50+ years with my husband, our son who married a wonderful girl and gave us three wonderful grandchildren. I am thankful for our oncologist and infusion nurses who helped my husband through six months of chemo and is cancer free five years with one cancer and 25 with the other. I am thankful for my sisters, my Mother (94), my friends and Furbaby Bess, who were there for me when my husband/we went through the cancer in 2005. I am thankful for my friends and neighbors. I am thankful that I live in the United States of America, Land of the Free - Home of the Brave. I am thankful for my religion, Lutheran, that has kept me on the straight and narrow, that has made sure that I was never alone and that prayers are always answered - Yes or No - and there is definitely a reason for the No. I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, who without Him, I never would have felt love, satisfaction, closeness, warmth, and the wisdom to know the difference between Him and the Devil. I am thankful that I can quilt. With my husband having cancer, I could always hand sew when he was having chemo, when he was taking a nap and now just to keep myself active. The kids are coming for Thanksgiving Dinner and that is probably right now what I am most thankful for! God bless us everyone and don't forget to say thank you. We pray for this and we pray for that and how many of us say thank you. I remember when Rog would get a good report from the oncologist and coming out of his office and into the elevator, I took those few minutes to say thank you. And I meant every word of it, I still mean every word of it - THANK YOU! Edie

Suzan Larrimore 11-15-2010 04:33 AM

I want to thank God for all of my blessings. I asked for and was sent so many things. I am thankful for my DH. He is my best friend. He puts up with me and all of my messes, he doesn't get angry if I decide I don't want to cook, he just finds something to eat. I love him more now than I did when we married 26 years ago. I'm thankful for all of my children. They are mostly grown up and they are a good group of kids. They all did, or do well in school, they are hard workers, they are loving, kind, compassionate, and generous. They behave when they are not with me. I know because their friends parents tell me how well behaved they are. They make me so proud. I'm thankful we have a house to live in and the money to add the large addition we needed.(2 stories,4 rooms). I'm thankful we have a ton of laughter in our house. The kids mostly get along. I'm grateful we can do for them when they want something. Son #2 is going to go to Disney World with the marching band the day after Christmas. I'm thankful I have an outlet for my creativity. It's also a great stress reliever. Of course I'm talking about quilting. Quilting has also brought my sister and me closer. I guess I could keep going, there is so much to be thankful for, unfortunately, there isn't enough room here to list all of them.

I am thankful for my husband who is very supportive of me in what ever I do and for my family, kids, parents and grandkids and good health.

tuesy 11-15-2010 06:58 AM

I'm thankful to God who everyday loves us unconditionally even though we mess up, continues to watch over us, and guide us. Without Him in our lives, I don't know where we'd be. I'm also thankful for my family who I love so very much and for my friends who are so very precious to me. Everything else is just gravy!!

tnutno 11-15-2010 10:12 AM

I also am thankful for my salvation. God allowed me to have a wonderful daughter and and son-in-law and 2 precious grand children. He also appointed me a task of adopting 6 other children and I am down to the last one to get out of school in one more semester. The person I am today is the sum total of all of my past experiences, both good and bad, and I am happy with what I have been given. I do appreciate this board. I have learned so much in the short time I have been participating. I have also spent a lot of money that I am thankful I had (or did not have) ha ha. I appreciate all of you each and every day.
