It is a lovely sunny day here in Birmingham, UK, and I am really looking forward to the weekend because

a) I just got paid
b) The weather is supposed to stay nice
c) I have sewing and shopping planned

Tonight - straight home after work, a glass of vino, laundry and a bit of tidying up.
Tomorrow - an early start, then grocery shopping, going to the sewing machine shop to get denim needles, checking out the charity shop for cheap denim to buy (planning to do a denim rag quilt). go to the market for my meat and veg. Then an afternoon of sewing, and then a relaxing evening in with my fella.
Sunday - Lazy morning with my fella, read the papers, have a nice breakfast. Then will pop over to Mom and Dad's for a quick visit, then not much else for the day....more sewing, bit of housework, maybe doing the ironing. Roasting a chicken for the cats because it is their birthday (2 yrs old)

So I was wondering if you are all also looking forward to the weekend? I'd love to hear what you are all doing?

I am going to spend the day with my daughters and grandchildren on Saturday...not sure about Sunday yet :D :D :D

mytwopals 06-12-2009 05:56 AM

I'm putting the 2 borders on my DN's Graduation quilt. Top should be finished on Sunday. Then it's onto the frame for some real fun! :)

Kj05 06-12-2009 06:00 AM

Way too much...Tomorrow is my dad's birthday and my parents anniversary, but we're celebrating tonight because today is also my fiance's very last day of college (hopefully!). Then tomorrow I have a bridal shower to go to and a bachelorette party. Sunday another bridal shower. And hopefully somewhere in there I'll get some quilting done. I at least have to finish a table runner before dinner tonight.

Today was the last day of school. Woohoo!!!! So this weekend I intend to relax. Monday I start working on all the summer projects I brought home.

bearpaw 06-12-2009 08:10 AM

The usual Saturday morning cleaning
SIL and niece are flying in from CA late tonight. Should be interesting!!

Jim's Gem 06-12-2009 09:40 AM

This is a UFO weekend for me. It means that my group of quilting friends from church descend upon the music room and take it over for our quilting!!! We are there from 5-11 (or 12) tonight and 9-3 tomorrow. I have today off of work, so I am going to get some backs done so that tonight DH and I can go over to the church to the tables set up and sandwich 4 quilts. I may not start quilting them at the church cause it is easier for me to work on them at home since my sewing machine sinks into my desk and I have a nice large flat area to work on. I may bring the embroider unit and work on the labels for these for quilts. I love UFO weekends!!! It's friends, quilting, food, quilting, talking, quilting, sharing of ideas and projects!!!

Jim's Gem 06-12-2009 09:55 AM

Last weekend 6 of us went on the Central Coast Quilt Run. We hit 14 quilt shops in 2 days. 11 of them on Friday. We had the greatest time!

julie 06-12-2009 01:48 PM

Not a blessed thing! After a full month of something every weekend, I can finally relax. Oh wait, we're thinking of getting two of the grandsons...No relaxing for me, but plenty of hugs, kisses, and laughter.

DH wanted to go camping - it's his B-day this weekend. Then the weather turned poopy (aw darnit  ) and he called off the plans. Now I get to play with my new machine. hehehe

I will make him a fab dinner and a strawberry shortcake.

Chele 06-12-2009 03:02 PM

What a wonderful weekend you have planned! Sounds like fun. I'm finishing up some work stuff and then I'll tackle the laundry I've let slide. Always time for sewing though. Sunday, we'll have the boat on the lake. Hopefully, I won't get brave and try a turn on the tube. I think hubby has it out for me! I should stick to water skiing.

ai731 06-12-2009 03:14 PM

This weekend will be very busy for us!

Saturday morning hubby will drop me off in the village so that I can go to the annual village Sidewalk Sale while he goes to the Farmer's Market to do our shopping. Hopefully I will find some good bargains!

Saturday afternoon I will be out buying materials for Sunday's Big Project, which is:

Building our chicken coop!

We have 25 young chickens that I got as 1-day-old baby chicks 6 weeks ago. They've been living in a pen in our garage ever since, and now it's finally time for them to move outside! Some friends are coming out to our place to help us build a coop for them.

I hope the rain stays away for us!

I'm stripping  Okay, okay, I'm stripping my porch furniture. I got my mom's old porch furniture and it's redwood that she painted over (and over and over). Then I get the "joy" of weeding my garden, cleaning my house, doing laundry and then if I have time ]I'll get to quilt :D[

butterflywing 06-12-2009 06:50 PM

i'm going back to the quilt show, (see thread 'sick of work') to see one of the venders quilts. the instructions are on a magazine cover that i get and i can't remember which one. duh! it has the instructions inside and i want to put it on my 'someday' list. LOL! good thing i'm still wearing the bracelet. that's for saturday. on sunday, the man is coming to make that black box work on the tv. wanna bet?

littlehud 06-12-2009 07:05 PM

I work this weekend. Poor me    Oh, I can't cry because I go back to work after four days off. I got some quilting done so it's been good. I have to go the work to pay for the fabric I bought today. :-) :-) :-)

sewnsewer2 06-13-2009 12:04 AM

I'll be running errands and learning more about how to use this new laptop.

Bevanger 06-13-2009 04:29 AM

sat i'll be watching quilt shows from 8 am til 12:30. while working on hand embroidery. Sun..... not sure

pittsburgpam 06-13-2009 05:10 AM

Friday night I sewed until about 12:30am, only 6 more strips of completed blocks to sew together on another jelly roll quilt.

This morning, Saturday, I hope to finish it since it's only 6:00am now. I need to leave at noon to make a 45 minute drive to a vineyard and meet my daughter (her 28th b-day) and others to go wine tasting and then out to dinner. The place we are going was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on Food Network. It's supposed to be great but it's a little hole-in-the-wall and no reservations so we will be there when they open for dinner at 5pm.

After that I either drive home or go home with my daughter (which she wants me to do). No plans for Sunday except maybe get some new flowers for the front yard planter.

Well, me …..I will be doing laundry!
A week ago my dryer started making a squeaky noise. :?: DH pulled it out and was going to open it up and check it out. FORGET it!!!! :( :( Not hooking it back up!!!!!!!!! The back of it was brown looked like it had got way, way too HOT.  I had to wait until my daughter got home and had a neighbor to bring a dyer over here from her house and hook it up (she had an extra one that was given to her!!! ….she wanted to dump it as she already had one and I told her “No, that one may quit and you may need it….didn’t know it was going to be me!!!!! ) :?
So, there is all this laundry to do….Had a good excuse when the dryer wouldn’t work!  But, DH had put me a clothesline up when I was reading that thread! (had one years ago and missed it!! ) So I did a couple of loads and hung them out. Now to finish up all the rest of it!!!

Okay--I just typed this to Angie, so I'll copy it here!
This was today. Tomorrow I'm at my in-law's 50th wedding anniversay party, but I'll get lots done in the morning.

Today:
chores (cleaning 5 stalls, getting horses fed and out. Refilling waters--hauled about 15 gals water this morning)

pulled pasture weeds (hands permanently stained now)

got hay down from upstairs in the barn

got the 40 gal water tub out back--got 4 hoses together and dragged out to fill it all.

Wound hoses back up--very tiring! One is heavy!

updated grades in 4 subjects

and got them on report cards

along with effort grades

finished paperwork for horses

got the pics of Jazz for the paperwork--tied him, groomed him, and got them all by myself
(still haven't printed them)

finished the paragraphs for students' gifts of writing for end of year stuff!!

transplanted a pansy hanging pot that was too full--now I have two

worked at getting Suzy to eat--she finally did. (she had a partially soft poop--maybe a tummy ache?)

got all the wash off the line--including Justin's 22 t-shirts--he washed and hung them yesterday.

Played with photos a lot--posted some.

Took Rosie for a walk to work on leading and turns and pivots, and worked foals on a halter/leading lesson.

Whew!

I still have to make the bed. :?

Yesterday was bright and sunny so i got up around 7am, straightened up the house and made muffins. Weeded flower bed, and mowed the lawn. In the mist off weeding and mowing, took breaks and played ball with the dogs.

Then DH and I went to the dog trainig facility where we get their organic food. Then off to best buy and Borderes and a place here we have called the Candy Factory for DH's fix of irregular twizzlers (lol) and after that the meat market to stock the deep freezer for summer BBQ's., then a quick swing in to McDonalds for a sweet tea and French fries.

Later in the evening cooked dinner and played Animal crossing for a few hours.

Today, filed my weekly unemployment claim and will start some machine embroidery going in a bit.And then take dogs for a nice rain soaked walk.
