I am 72, red hair with no gray, never been colored. I do have an over abundance of wrinkles, but paid a high price to get them so I don't try to cover them. I don't have as much energy as I used to, or maybe I have just sorted some priorities, the house does not need as much attention as it used to, dust can stay longer, and I can sleep longer! I know I am older, but there is always someone older than me, so I am doing well! As long as I don't feel old I am good with that, regardless of what someone else thinks!

Some good responses here...I think of elderly as being somewhat decrepit in body or spirit, but as mentioned it can be at 60 or 90 years, we are all different. I emailed a response to a newspaper story describing an accident victim as 'elderly' and she was only 62...really irked me....they removed the word from the story. I am nearing 73, and sure don't want to be described as elderly.

interesting thread. I turned 69 today and am still working full time. I too cut my own grass (about the only one in the neighborhood who does and I am one of the oldest residents). I still feel like I did in my 20s (most days). when I can no longer drive, I will be elderly

75 and up......imho. Irks me that 50 plus is "senior". I will turn 60 in two weeks. Lol!

And...no....it is NOT the new 50. But I am in excellent health overall.

Hi all you spring chickens. I am 93 today, still kicking but not so high. I have good days, and bad....but don't we all? Actually I am packing to go to the mountains for a wk.'s vacation.....I won't do any trudging through the hills, but will encourage my son and his wife to go for it! They love to walk in the mountains, and on the beach as well. I have had to put that kind of activity at rest, tho there are many my age who still do quite a bit of physical activity...remember that Geo. Bush jumped out of that plane (ugh) a couple years ago? Anyhow, forget the numbers and just enjoy life.....the word "elderly" is for the birds. At my age they call us the "frail elderly". Isn't that a hoot? But, sometimes I feel like it.....and sometimes I am 16 again.

I just had my 76th birthday...the number is unbelievable to me. Oh well, I feel great and I have a busy and enjoyable life. I have friends older and younger. I don't feel elderly and don't think I looK my age but I am not sure what 76 is supposed to look like! My grandkids think I am fun and that makes my life special. I believe it is a state of mind.😊

I'd say in their 70's.

Adult is not an age. You and I both know someone who is over 60 years old, but not an adult. And there are 15 year-olds who show a lot of maturity.

Elderly is not an age. A friend of mine celebrated her 92nd birthday square dancing. She still drums for her band and drives Amish to wherever they want to go.

I still square dance and teach at the one room school. I have a few aches and pains, but manage. I'm 83. I gave up mowing this year (I love to mow my big lawn with my push mower) but I decided to save my energy to sew quilts.

And we all know of people who can barely walk at 60.

Age is just numbers. It's what's between your ears that counts. If you have a positive attitude that helps. I'll be 68 next month but as my aim is to live to at least 90 I don't think of myself as old but I will admit to older.

When Are We Old?

If you fall down, and everyone laughs, you are young.

If you fall down, and everyone runs to see if you are hurt and
to help you up, You are elderly.
