In Vista it's under Security in the Control Panel. Mine shows an option to Allow a Program through Windows Firewall.
Firewall in XP To disable Windows Firewall, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl and then click OK. On the General tab, click Off Click OK. Click On to turn the Firewall back to normal. Hope this helps. |

You need to know what Service pack you are running.
Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl and then click OK. The last line under System tells you what service pack that you are running. If no service pack is listed, you are running the release version of Windows XP. There are different settings in XP for each service packs. |
