DH isn't feeling well and is complaining he can't get his feet warm. I finally remembered to get a big bag of rice at the grocery store last week, but haven't had time to make some bags for the rice. So I thought I would just use a pair of his cotton socks, fill them up with rice, and tie them off with a rubber band until I can get some bags made up. So I ask DH to help me pour the rice in his socks. He looks at me and says, "How am I going to get my feet in those socks - they're full of rice". I thought I was going to die laughing! I (laughing inside) told him we were going to put the rice filled socks on top of his feet to warm them.

men are too funny. They only see the original use for something. He was probably wondering why you were keeping the rice in his socks. lol

All the people in my family are men and they come up with the cutest things. They never seem to lose that boyish innocence! :D:D Even our boy cat is so different from the girls!!!

That's not a bad idea at all. If his feet are cold sitting on the couch, you could make several of them and sew them together to totally cover his feet, one foot at a time of course. Sort of a big, heavy sack to stick his feet in.
This might take 4 or so of them but would be very warm. Or get him a small heating pad, but probably not a good idea if he is diabetic!!

You can put the rice bags in the microwave for a bit and they'll be warm when he puts them over his feet. (do the microwave bit a little at a time, maybe 15 - 20 seconds at a time. You don't want to burn the socks or his feet.)

That is priceless. Poor sick husband.

Funny ;-)

I just finished a bag for MIL for foot warming. I used flax seed and some lavender oil in muslin then made a seperate pretty cotton case for it. That way she can wash the case is she has used it with arthritis cream on her feet.

i just did it flat to put feet on the top of then the top part just folds over the top of the feet. So I filled the muslin and sewed across about 2/3 of the way up. Then sewed down the middle dividing for the feet.

Boy - it's fun to sew with 2 lbs of crazy tiny seeds sliding around in the bag!
