My son had to do a year end project in 2nd grade. He read the book and then had to create something to help him retell the story to his classmates. We made these using plastic Easter eggs, a LOT of hot glue, felt, and left over scraps of fabric. We found some old toys he didn't play with, cut up a flower out of my bridal bouquet for the chicken wings, along with a Partylite candle holder for the fish tub. Overall, he was very happy with how it turned out, and I was happy that I didn't throw out all my old craft supplies.

My daughter said she can't wait to see what we do when she gets to 2nd grade. I am worried I won't top this. It was just too much fun.

Kittyzilla... the tree made a good scratcher.

She downed the goats and the doll. The chickens came next. Silly kitty.

Very cute & creative! It's a good thing it can be set up again after the cat finished with it!

The cool silo holds all the figures, so when I was done with the pictures (which I posted on FB for my deployed DH to see), I put them up... much to my kitty's chagrin. She already had one of the chickens in her mouth and was trying to carry it off... like it was a mouse. Too bad I had already turned off my camera. That was really funny.

I do hope you sent the pictures to his teacher! I'm sure she will hoot with laughter. I know I would.

Good idea. He already presented it to his classmates. They thought it was really neat. I will send her the last picture. She will find it humorous, I am sure.

I am glad that you are able to do this type of craft things with your childrena dn then to also send to you DH so he can see. I'll bet he wishes he could be home to help. I know that these are sad times when families have to be apart for freedom. Thanks to all the soldiers who have sacrificed and will sacrifice to save the lives of Americans. I am a former Vietnam veteran so I know what it means to be away from family. Thank heavens I didn't have any children at the time.

You did a great job on that.
