There was a multi shop hop in my area Fri and Sat. There were 18 smaller LQS represented. I "had" to run back again Sat to pick up something I forgot and had to hear one of the vendors tell me how they had lost (via a shoplifter) 5 kits. Each kit was valued between $85.00 to $110.00. Don't people realize these LQS are independently owned and that is the person's living? It is no wonder so many of them are having to close their doors.

Sorry to "rant" about this, but what has our society come to?

I cannot imagine anyone stealing knowing that these Shop Owners are having a problem staying afloat with this economy. Well I cannot imagine anyone stealing anyway but still...... HORRIBLE! Just horrible! Wonder if the kits will show up on Ebay or somewhere?

Oh man! That's so sad/bad!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. I think I attended the same shop hop you did today and all the vendors were soooo wonderful! Helpful and friendly. What a shame!

That is awful. Don't know why they do that.

Kits are usually in a large package. The thieves sure had a lot of nerve or a lot of practice. Sad.

I haven't personally come across this yet but it used to be that whenever I was at a quilt shop or shop hop the sellers always took checks, often without ID. When I asked about it I was told everytime that they had never had a bounced check from a quilter. One of my LQS's has recently stopped accepting checks.

Of course it may not be a quilter that stole them but someone who realizes how much money can be made from selling quilting items. I'm thinking it must be a sign of the times that more people are starting to steal and cheat.

I don't understand it either but it is really a sad state of affairs.

That's awful. I am a firm believer in people getting what they deserve, eventually. Human nature makes me want to see them get it!

Sad ! Disgusting ! Gods gonna get ya!! Too bad.

Working in electronics at Wal-Mart I can tell you its both nerve AND practice. When the Nintendo 3DS came out we had six of them to start off with and in the first week half of them got stolen. All that was left was the empty boxes and they got around the security devices (not gonna say how). I thought that was shocking. But not long after we came across an empty Xbox 360 box. Just like the 3DS boxes. And an XBox is not exactly a small thing to steal either. Its basically a miniture computer tower and it comes with heavy cords. We figure it had to be the same person. So I'm not surprised that someone would be able to steal several large quilt kits. Still, what a shameful thing to do and I am disgusted by these theives.
