more and more i am (unsubscribing) from sites that now want you to follow them on facebook/twitter-
i do have a facebook account-simply because i have 'long-distance' adult children- and it is easier for them to stay (in touch)
but i only 'go there' when i receive an email telling me i have received a message.then i go there- read my message and get the heck back out- at first i was getting (sometimes hundreds a day) requests to play some game- do something- it didn't take long for people to realize i was not going to play-
i spend enough time here on the board- i have no time for those (social-networks)
and hate feeling almost forced to participate....

I don't text, either!

ditto here, too. unfortunately, my DD and SIL live by text. if the reply is longer than just OK, i don't use text. i just have the number pad on my phone, they have the full keyboards.

did you know, however, that you can text from your computer email? the text email address is shown here
http://hacknmod.com/hack/email-to-te...t-virgin-more/
so if i need to text them a longer message, i use email text.

I find the same thing ... It is annoying but I still do not want to join Facebook or Twitter either...

FaceBook and other social networks! Not for me either. Dont text cuz I like to spell my words even if my fingers hit the wrong keys. Dont need to find former classmate. Family know where I am, etc. Would rather get email, letter or even a phone call. Do young people really know what a phone is for? Cell or land line? Off my soap box and back to my corner to sew before going to work.

Years ago I had facebook because the encouragement of friends. But once when I logged into my account, my entire hard drive appeared and faces from Tai Won (sp) appeared on my account. I immediately discontinued usage...friends have been pushing me, alot of the sites keep encouraging me, but NO THANKS! I am glad that many of you choose not to go there - it just doesn't feel safe .

I'm on facebook, have a site there for my company, but don't do any of the games, and don't allow any of the aps through there or anything else that want me to share my info.

Nanax4 07-21-2011 06:31 AM

TOTALLY agree! I HATE that!!!! I have NO intention of sharing my personal information with the world.

I wonder if it's a way to cut down on the number of commenters....especially those who say stupid things and hide behind a fake name.

I have noticed some companies requiring you to go to their FB page and "like" them, to get a special deal or discount...

I only use FB to keep up with some of my family and friends... don't play the games, participate in the other apps either LOL :D:D:D

valsma 07-21-2011 07:22 AM

If I have to be member of FB or Twitter to be a memeber of their site, then I don't choose to be a member of that site. I have a FB account and I use it daily but that is also why I don't do many of the apps. I don't want to give permission to access my info.

[quote=pocoellie]I don't frequent any site that requires that I be on facebook or twitter, or any thing else like them.

Me either

They are dangerous sites, People from work are getting fired for postings they put on facebook and employees are STILL addicted.
